it seems to me that everyone is using the wrong sliders. i keep reading everyones sliders and their outcomes of games and all the games are like 2-1 or 4-3 with about 10-15 total hits for both teams combined! this is the live ball era teams average about 6 runs a game and get about 12-15 hits a game. i think alot of people need to turn down the computer pitching. just a thought but if you read the post there are way too many low scoring games.

Actually I play the Philles, and I'm into offense as the next guy, but I'm more a die hard sim person. So I look into what are reasonable number during play. Source: espn.go.com

Phillies Team averages per game of 2002 on far left side.

    Hitting: MLB Best Worst
    Runs - 4.28 5.54 (Yankees) 3.55 (Tigers)
    Hits - 8.81 9.9 (Angels) 8.02 (Pirates)
    SO - 6.76 7.8 (Cubs) 4.97 (Angels)
    Avg - .259 .282(Angels) .244(Pirates)

    Pitching:
    ERA - 4.16 3.13 (Braves) 5.29 (Tigers)
    Hits - 8.59 8.03 (Braves) 9.83 (Tigers)
    SO - 6.68 8.23 (Cubs) 4.90 (Tigers)

Therefore, on average USER and CPU should get about
3-6 runs per game, 8-10 hits, and get struck out 4-8
    times.

When Pitching...the USER and CPU should get about 3-6
runs given up, 8-10 hits given up, and strike out 4-9
    players per game.

hmm...that didn't come out as well as I hoped. Hope it's still readable.

Re: I think I got it. New and improved sliders!!!

i've been reading this post for a while, and ive been using wsbfantastic's sliders. The change from CPU pitching from 95 to 100 has definitely made a huge difference, as i am now able to work a realistic amount of walks in a game, whereas when it was on 100 i would get 1 if i was lucky, and i consider myself pretty patient at the plate. The only problems ive gotten with the sliders have been with pitching. 37 seems to be a good setting for cpu BA, but with cpu batting eye strikes where it is, it seems they swing at almost every strike, if not every one. I'm thinking maybe lowering this to about 70-75? the BE balls seems a little high too... but not as bad as the BE strikes... wuddya think?. If i get good results i post a box score

I'm all for lowering the BE(S) slider, but when I did that before, I would get more Ks per game. Try it out for a couple games and tell me what you think?

Re: I think I got it. New and improved sliders!!!

well i played a game against the blue jays, im the yanks... they got obliterated 16-1, i had 19 hits... but the pitching numbers seemed pretty good, i keep lowering the BE(S) so they dont swing at every strike i throw, and to balance this i moved the BA to 40. I still cant find a BE(S) where they will actually take a strike!! so im going to lower it again for next game..., anyways in the blue jays game, clemens pitched, gave up 5 hits, pitched 9 innings (missed a complete game shutout because of a homer in the ninth) threw 101 pitches, 67 were strikes, walked one batter. im not even going to bother posting the computer's pitching stats, because they used 5 who all did terribly, but i was able to draw 5 walks in the game. I am using all of WSB fantastics settings, except my BE(B) is now at 75 so they will occasionally swing at balls, and i had it at 60 for BE(S), but now i am going to try 55 and keep lowering it until i see a batter take a strike... WSBfantastic, do you use high variable pitching or medium? i use high.

doh, i forgot to say, clemens had 5 K's, so lowering the BE(S) didnt seem to have too much of an effect on that

just played another game, and this one felt the most realistic pitching-wise ive played so far. for me, it was 3 5 3 (R H E) and them 8 12 0. Pettitte had one bad inning in the first, where they scored all 7 of their runs, but he pitched 6 1/3 and didnt give up a run after that. he gave up 11 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, and 8 K's (perhaps a little high, but not bad) he threw 101 pitches, 66 strikes. Weaver came in for 1 2/3, 1 H and 2K's. Most importantly, the computer actually took a good amount of strikes, but punished me for bad pitches. On the other side of the ball, Radke dominated me, going 6 innings, 3 ER, 3 H, 3BB, and 10 K's, 84 pitches 51 strikes. again, the settings for my pitching are BE(S) 55, BE(B) 75, BA 40. This seems to be great based on this game, im going to play a few more with this, and see the results.

I used to use HVP because I wanted to throw more BBs, but i switched to MVP for more control. I still would throw balls if I have the CPU BA at around 35-40 with CPU BE(S) above 60. Those settings combined makes the CPU BAttings pretty deadly
