Jimmy Rollins won the MVP last yr and he didn't have the best numbers. We can argue that, he didn't have the best numbers, but he lifted the Phils into the playoffs last yr. They got the voting right last yr, down the stretch Rollins was the best player in the National League last yr.Howard down the tough stretch put the Phils on his back and bought them a championship. I believe they screwed up the vote. Howard was theee best player in the National League.

Well if a voter waited until after the playoffs to cast his vote, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't count because, well, the votes are due before the playoffs start. lol.

I admit it is a homer statement it doesn't matter, stats are just numbers. Come on it is called "Most Valuable Player", not "Best Statistical player",hop off Pujols. He had a great season stats-wise but what did his team do?Finish like third or fourth in the division. Howard is a World Champion. He was hot down the stretch. Call me a homer but Ryan Howard should have gotten it over Pujols. PLus Howard is a power hitter. Pujols hits for average. Obviously Pujols is going to have better average numbers but serously I will back up my arguement. First of all the slump arguement, every player has slumps. Howards slumps look bigger than Pujols because its RYAN HOWARD obviously when he slumps it's a big deal. But Albert Pujols slumps its like oh hes gonna be ok. He always gets a pass. But Howard gets all the negativity. Stop hating on him. He knocked in 11 more home runs and had way more RBIs than the man. Won more games than Pujols, put more runs on the board. What counts in Baseball, uhhh let's see....WINNING. Putting runs on the board. A guy can hit .350 every year but if he doesn't win me games, what's the point. At some point you have to score runs to win games. Getting on base is not enough. Score RUNS. That's what it's about. OBP,AVG,none of that crap matters when a team is in the playoff race and needs a run to win a close game. Howard did it for us when it counted. Having a good hitting day in July doesn't matter nearly as much as it does in September. So cut the April-September crap. Come on he had a great year but the MOST VALUABLE PLAYER is ryan howard I've said my peace

Thats some seriously flawed logic right there. And Pujols won his team many games.

How is it flawed logic, uhh runs win games am I correct. YES. so flawed logic it is not sir. Second of all, Pujols is a great player, but he couldn't lift his team to even a good place in his division. That's like A-Rod having a great yr this year and getting MVP. His team finished third in the division. Most Valuable Player to me is what it is Most Valuable Player.Howard was VALUABLE. Without him there was no Playoff berth. With or without Pujols the Cardinals sucked so all you haters you got the MVP so shut up. We're the Champs, with the best player in the National League. We needed Howard which makes him VALUABLE.

Oh yea to speak personally, Pujols didn't win his team enough games. The Cardinals finished 11 and half games out of first place. So suck it up Cards fans and Pujols lover

You fail so hardcore. Chase Utley is probably a better choice for MVP seeing as he didn't completely not show up for 3 months of the season. If the stats between Pujols and Howard were even remotely close, I'd agree with you. But it's not. Pujols had the highest VORP by a huge margin, like 15+ points over Hanley. There are actually too many ways to refute your "arguments" so I'll just stop there.

Lol. Howard was there for the final month, so he played out of his mind for 30 games. So where was he for the first 5 months of the season? The first 120 games? What? Oh J-Rollins, Lidge, Hamels and Utely were carrying your team. Pujols can't score runs without someone batting behind him capable of driving him in. Howard has the bats behind him to do so.

The best player in any league has to perform at a high level in every facet of the game. You said Pujols only hits for average, is 37 homeruns something to scoff at? How about 319 career homeruns through an 8 year career? The best player of the National League is the 2-time MVP, gold glove award winning, World Champion, The Machine himself, Albert Pujols.

Hey Philly fan, call us back when Howard can put up batting over .300, 30 hrs and have 100 rbi in 8 consecutive seasons.

Quality posts. Some great personal attacks in there.

You take away Pujols from the Cardinals and replace him with some average 1st baseman and they probably are about 5 wins worse. Do the same with Howard and the Phillies are probably only 2 or 3 wins worse.

Howard isn't the most valuable player on that team, Utley is heads and shoulders above Howard in terms of value. He is so much better than every other 2B in the league, it isn't even funny. Howard is at best the 3rd best 1B in the NL.

Howard won his team one month worth of games. Where was he the first 120? Invisible, along with his bat. Pujols lead a depleted team to 86 wins. Experts picked the Cardinals to battle with the Pirates for last place. Cardinals were actually in contention the whole year.

Completely agree Sandy. And with 2 or 3 wins less for the Phillies, do they get into the playoffs, let alone win a WS? No.

u take away Howard from our team, nobody really scared of us. Pitchers know that Howard is going to come up, so they get worried. Take Howards bat out of the lineup, it looks only a lil above average. With Howards bat in there, it makes our lineup much better because you know that you gotta face the big guy. Come on, without Pujols the Cardinals stay the same seriously. Their pitching isn't that great, the lineup isn't actually that bad but bad pitching puts them into nonexistence. Sorry that's just how I feel. Howard is the MVP to me. the voting was skewed, he should've won.
