I understand Pujols is my second favorite player in the NL behind Howard in terms of overall greatness. But like Howard just has more value to me then Pujols. I mean attack me if you like because I don't agree with mainstream America, but seriously none of this discussion matters. Pujols is the MVP whether I like it or not, so can we mature and end this nonsense. I want to. Pujols is MVP. Howard is a World Champion. So they both have awards to be very proud of.
No one's attacking you, we're just disputing your claims. In fact, you're the one that called someone an A**hole in this thread.

Regardless, Utley was more valuable to the Phillies than Howard; the wins that he contributed to throughout the season count just as much as the wins that Howard contributed to in the last month.

I understand Utley was a major contributor and I'm not doubting that I just believe Howard did it in the clutch. We can argue this all day, lets just agree to disagree I shoudln't have called the guy an a**hole, that's my wrongdoing. But yeah in my opinion Howard should have won lets leave it at that shall we?

Pujols much deserving of this one...Howard, great power, but another year of inconsistency and the hole in his swing has gotten even bigger in 2008. As long as Howard continues to strike out like this, and play lackluster defense he isn't going win another MVP - unless Pujols gets injured, Jose Reyes learns how to hit in Sept, or David Wright takes it to the next level.

Um, I don't agree with the guy above at all...Howard was too inconsistent this year. My problem is with guys saying Utley was killing the ball all year...Just stop. As good as he was in April, he killed our team for 2 months with untimely strikeouts and not coming through in the clutch. I wouldn't expect you guys to know because you guys don't watch us, so I just cleared that up. Utley took himself out of the MVP race. He wore down and his hip injury didn't help either.

And this "what if" **** is stupid. What if the Messss picked up Manny to be their LF'er for those 2 months...It doesn't matter.

And please, spare me these ****in calc nerd stats like VORP+123i...I watched the ****.

Here's a nerd stat for you, Howard scored 56 on the suckass scale while Utley barely registered.

And yet Chase Utley still had a more productive season than Ryan Howard.

You can talk about watching him all season and all it does is prove to me that you're more biased than you want to be.

The worst position to be in when evaluating the performance of two players is to watch them all the time. You'll just remember the really bad and the really good and ignore the actual results.

Also, I honestly can't understand what you're talking about with strikeouts. Howard struck out nearly 100 more times than Utley. 100! If you want to use strikeouts as a measurement of performance, then you're not making much sense by stating Utley underperformed because of strikeouts.
