    Re: Soriano

Alomar sucks. he gave up last year, and he should have been banned from baseball when he spit on the umpire.

lets look at the numbers for a second here.... Alomar ever hit 39 homers, or drive in 103 runs from the leadoff spot.... don't think so.... other than the OBP, and SB's which if Soriano would walk a little more, Sori could steal as many as 80 or 90 in a season. Alomar was never the calibur player that Soriano is now, and Soriano is going to only get better, barring an injury. So cling onto a guy who is washed up, on a team that is over rated... And true i dont think Soriano will be the next Rogers Hornsby, he is defenitely up their ahead of guys like Alomar, Sandberg, and even a guy named Joe Morgan from the Big Red Machine. But most of you are too young to remember guys like that, hell I was just a kid when he was still playing..

I like Soriano alot but one good season doesnt put him ahead of guys like Alomar (in his prime), never the less guys like Sandberg and Joe Morgan.

            "looks at his calender"

Hmmm I was around during the '80s I saw Sandberg, a little bit of Morgan and Robbie Alomar. To me, Alomar was a better player in his prime then Soriano currently is. Soriano looks to have the offensive game down pat but he can't even come close to sniffing the Gold Glove abilities of Alomar, Morgan and Sandberg.

                Rogers Hornsby? Jackie Robinson?

I could think of more, but I'm busy watching the M's.

This conversation would be much more interesting for all of us if Soriano had more than one good season.

I remember hearing the Kevin Maas was one of the best power prospects ever after 1/3 of a good season. And come to think of it, didn't Jeter get touted as the best shortstop in baseball (which he never was) after his first full season? Funny yankee fans...rarely having perspective...
