Yanks don't ruin baseball, baseball has ruined baseball. and I'm an O's fan. Can't hate the team by playing by the rules. Can't hate Tex for taking the money (who wouldn't?!?!). Can't hate Angelos b/c he made a reasonable offer. Just hate baseball.

There would have been no outrage is he had went to Boston and their payroll is outrageous too when comparing the rest of baseball.
No, I would have an outrage because they paid the most money to NOT the best first baseman. And locked themselves in a contract with a career sub .300 hitter and less than .400 OBP.

Pujols is the best first baseman, and even Youk had arguably just as good of a year as Tex last year, and that isnt his native position. I would take Ryan Howard or Prince Fielder over Tex any day of the week. Cheaper too.

The outrage from most people is the 4 highest payrolls on one team. There wouldn't be much if the players were more spread out. You seem to forget about the 86 mil to injured more than he plays Burnett, and 180 mil to CC.

I'm tempted to get opening day Yankees-O's tickets so I can boo the **** out of him along with thousands of other people. What a traitor.

Can't argue with that at all.

Gotta imagine how proud the other teams have been over the past 8 or so years to have won despite being instantly handicapped and to have built their teams on the talent of their coaching and scouting staff than on the size of their wallet.

            Yea..that Pujols guy sucks...

I would even argue that Berkman is a better 1B than Tex because he hits from both sides too, hits for around the same power, and will steal you close to 20 bases.

B/c he took the money? Give me a break. This isn't your father's baseball anymore with hometown loyalties. That's just talk to get an offer on the table to see how high other teams will go. Tex isn't a traitor as much as any other free agent.

He wasn't going to the O's no matter what. The Nationals were, reportedly, more serious contenders for him than the O's so you really shouldn't feel too bitter.

I find it hilarious that people hate the Yankees because they make money and spend it on players. Isn't that the point? They have been doing this for over 50 years. What's the surprise?

True, even with the highest payroll and the most talent they still find a way to lose every year.

423 million dollars for three players in one off-season is a little much, even for the Yankees.

Like I said, though. I don't really care too much because if (or when) they lose this season...it makes it that much more hysterical.

Hopefully, but I told you on Monday my plan, and right now it is falling in place.

And the Yankees better win it all, or I think their would be a backlash in New York.

And I would be fine with a salary cap and I think that the Dodgers owner, Frank McCheap would be down with it.

The most talent? They had a terrible starting rotation last year. And for the most part a pretty mediocre pen. An A's fan talking about losing in the playoffs- really?

You'd be surprised just how similar their numbers really are. To say Youk had just as good of a year as Tex last season isn't a stretch at all.
