Yanks don't ruin baseball, baseball has ruined baseball. and I'm an O's fan. Can't hate the team by playing by the rules. Can't hate Tex for taking the money (who wouldn't?!?!). Can't hate Angelos b/c he made a reasonable offer. Just hate baseball.

Re: Tex goes to the Bronx
Mark Teixeira is the best 1st baseman in baseball. CC Sabathia is one of the top 2 or 3 pitchers in baseball. I can't see how anyone would blame the Yankees. They are playing by the rules and make the money.
There would have been no outrage is he had went to Boston and their payroll is outrageous too when comparing the rest of baseball.
Pujols is the best first baseman, and even Youk had arguably just as good of a year as Tex last year, and that isnt his native position. I would take Ryan Howard or Prince Fielder over Tex any day of the week. Cheaper too.
The outrage from most people is the 4 highest payrolls on one team. There wouldn't be much if the players were more spread out. You seem to forget about the 86 mil to injured more than he plays Burnett, and 180 mil to CC.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 12-23-2008, 04:08 PM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: Tex goes to the Bronx
I'm tempted to get opening day Yankees-O's tickets so I can boo the **** out of him along with thousands of other people. What a traitor.Comment

Re: Tex goes to the Bronx
Gotta imagine how proud the other teams have been over the past 8 or so years to have won despite being instantly handicapped and to have built their teams on the talent of their coaching and scouting staff than on the size of their wallet.Comment

Yea..that Pujols guy sucks...
I would even argue that Berkman is a better 1B than Tex because he hits from both sides too, hits for around the same power, and will steal you close to 20 bases.Last edited by JBH3; 12-23-2008, 04:14 PM.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: Tex goes to the Bronx
B/c he took the money? Give me a break. This isn't your father's baseball anymore with hometown loyalties. That's just talk to get an offer on the table to see how high other teams will go. Tex isn't a traitor as much as any other free agent.Comment

Re: Tex goes to the Bronx
He wasn't going to the O's no matter what. The Nationals were, reportedly, more serious contenders for him than the O's so you really shouldn't feel too bitter.Comment

Like I said, though. I don't really care too much because if (or when) they lose this season...it makes it that much more hysterical.Comment

Re: Tex goes to the Bronx
Hopefully, but I told you on Monday my plan, and right now it is falling in place.
And the Yankees better win it all, or I think their would be a backlash in New York.
And I would be fine with a salary cap and I think that the Dodgers owner, Frank McCheap would be down with it.Comment

Re: Tex goes to the Bronx
The most talent? They had a terrible starting rotation last year. And for the most part a pretty mediocre pen. An A's fan talking about losing in the playoffs- really?NBA: New York Knicks
NCAA: Duke
MLB: New York Yankees
NFL: New York JetsComment
