Re: Griffey down in severe pain
As much as I love them both Ken Griffey Jr is the Grant Hill of the MLB. They both only play about 1/3-1/2 of the games a year and both get loads of dough and both are only a slight memory of their once great selves.Comment

Ken Griffey Jr. isn't done! It's stupid to say he won't be the same as he was back in Seatle. He's still young,33, and these are his prime years. Unfortunately he's spending them on the DL.Anyways he is great in the outfield so no need to move him to the DH position. Just trade him to NY Yanks in exchange for Raul Mondesi.

Heh... he said he'd never play for the Yankees, that he'd retire first.

Re: Griffey down in severe pain
I've had both shoulders dislocate several times, and had surgery on both. It takes 6 to 8 weeks usually to get the strength back, and allow you to be more comfortable with going through certain motions, such as throwing a baseball. Good thing it wasn't on his throwing arm, as he would probably have to be out longer than the 6 weeks. If he ends up having surgery, forget about it... he's done for the year then.
One of my shoulders popped out again a few years after the surgery. It's a very sucky injury to get since you rely on your shoulder for so much, and can pretty much take it for granted unless you've had this injury. There are certain things I don't do any more because of certain arm rotations, such as arm wrestling, air hockey, bench press... I try not to do a lot of heavy lifting, as I can feel the weakness still there, even though I have gone to great lengths to try to rehab it. But I think I'm an extreme case though, cause I've popped my right one out about 30 times (my throwing arm), and my left one about 10 times. It first happened when I was 10.
It's pretty weird that this has happened to arguably the best players on 3 different teams.Comment

Well, The only Good news so far according to the latest news is that xrays showed no breaks!!

Actually, the nature of this injury makes it worse than a break. This is something that can keep happening now. At least with a break they can fix it and it can heel. With a break it's usually easier to tell how long it will be to make it back. If Phil Nevin had broken his arm, or even separated his shoulder, he would be back within a couple months instead of being out for the whole season.
Kenny Lofton had this injury a few years ago, but it was at the end of the season (or even in the playoffs, I don't remember exactly) and I think he had the surgery, I don't know for sure though. I'm only mentioning him because he is also a centerfielder. Nevertheless, he had the whole offseason to recooperate, and I don't think he's had a problem with it since.
