Any rivalry that doesnt involve teams you care about is OVERRATED to you.
And there are BILLIONS of people that dont care about every rivarly, does that mean ESPN shouldnt pay attention to any of them?

Another reason why I wish I have MLB Network

I loved hearing Costas call games back in the day. He has such a natural almost radio type of voice for baseball. Hopefully some of the MLB Network games get carried up here so I can hear Costas work his magic.

Tuesday nights they have a show called Ken Burn's Baseball. This guy named Ken Burns goes back and looks at history events of baseball.

Thursday nights they have homerun derby night where they show past homerun derbies.

Friday nights they have World Series highlights. It's a 90 minute show where they go in depth to a past World Series with interviews and stuff from people who were a part of that series.
You forgot Prime 9. The show that's sure to start arguments, not end them.

I've always liked Costas the way I like Joe Buck. Guess I just like their play-by-play voice.

Cool. I need to look through the listings for those shows. It seems everytime I turn it on it is replaying a World Series from the last couple years.

But I don't expect fans from any of those teams to understand where I'm coming from.
            It was tongue-in-cheek.

I understand there are some other teams out there, but other than maybe a Roy Halladay start, Lincecum vs Peavy, and a handful of other nice pitching matchups or a game showcasing a few sluggers (Hamilton vs Holliday). There isn't much reason for the "general baseball public" to tune into a SD/SF matchup, or a TEX/OAK one etc.

I would watch, but I love the game...

I knew there was a show I was forgetting. But yes Prime 9 comes on Monday nights.

I agree about Costas. But not about Joe Buck.

My point is they don't give the same respect to say the Braves/Mets as they do to the Red Sox/Yankees. That's all I'm saying.

I'd personally think the Cubs/Cardinals is a much better rivarly than the Red Sox/Yankees.

Sorry it's hard to tale when it is serious or when it isn't. Similies help though.

I would much rather watch a Rangers/A's game over a Red Sox/Yankees game because I never get to see the Rangers and A's play and I see the Red Sox and Yankees play 20 or 30 times a year.

I'm happy about the Costas addition. I've got a great deal of respect for him, I think he's got a clear love for the history of the game (if you've ever heard his radio show, you'll know what I mean), and has a very good "feel" for the moments in sports.

                It's a solid addition, IMO.

He anchored half-time for NBC's Sunday Nite football which I thought was gruesome...I equate him to Dennis Miller when he was in MNF where sometimes you're like, huh?

But that's different. Costas has always been a great play-by-play man when it comes to baseball. I love listening to him call a baseball game.

lol...that might be a bit harsh, but I do see your point. I actually liked him enough on NBC, but understand also they were trying to go with a more "casual" and light apporach (hence the re-partnering of Dan and Keith.

I also think, with football, he's just another guy. He's a baseball guy all the way though and really does get into the nuances of the game. His depth of insight on his radio sports show trumps everything he's done with SNF and Inside the NFL.

                        I agree with this.

I'm happy that I finally got MLB Network, and am happy at the Costas Addition.

And, btw, I LOVE the MLB network. Just the other night I learned about 'Harvey's Wallbangers' and it was fascinating.... So much history the game has to offer, and so far, MLB Network has been doing a great job showing it!

I completely agree. When he's calling a game he's really a wealth of information and respects the game of baseball.

Yeah that was one of the Baseball Seasons episodes, it was the story of the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers. They talked about how the foundation was set in 1977 and then they gradually won more until the magical '82 season for Milwaukee.

That was probably my favorite baseball "documentary" that I've ever seen that focused on one team. I just wish that they would have talked about the 1983 team and how they fell apart and made the terrible trade getting rid of Gorman Thomas.

I think Hot Stove shows every weeknight @ 7 est, I could be wrong. Right now they are showing the Caribbean World Series so that's cool too. I can't wait to see what they do with Spring Training and the regular season.
