Re: A-Rod tested positive for 'roids in '03
Alex seems to be that kind of guy that is never sure of himself. He constantly needs reassurance that he is welcome and accepted. And he doesn't know how to come off as not feeling needy. That's the vibe I get from him."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Steroids cause your muscles to grow too fast for your tendons and can cause you to get injured more easily. Also can help you recover faster if you are already injured. My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

True but I don't think that's why Griffey was injured. He got injured diving for balls and running into walls. He also had nagging hamstring injuries which a lot of athletes have.***My Teams***

I love how every time it comes out that a player used steroids back when there were no punishments, Bud says he's considering suspending them, like he actually could.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

I don't think he did them either. His problem was he didn't stretch much, especially when he was younger. And his stats have declined as he got older, not the other way around like Bonds. My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Selig really just needs to resign. I don't know who really wants him in that spot anymore.
However, he does have a point, A-Rod did shame the game in taking steroids. Just because Bud is Uber guilty does not mean he is wrong.Too Old To Game Club

Re: A-Rod tested positive for 'roids in '03
Why is Bud Selig talking big now? Are we to believe that the Sports Illustrated report is the first time that Bud Selig heard about A-Rod's positive test? It seems hard to believe that Congress has seen the list but the commissioner of baseball never did! What a joke!Comment

Re: A-Rod tested positive for 'roids in '03
Selig's job is to police the sport and draw a line between what is acceptable and a complete disgrace. If we're going to agree that players using steroids is a complete disgrace then Bud should've done much more to discourage it looooong ago. And he certainly shouldn't be trying to remove himself from the equation now. Remember, he was there when the surveys were taken. He's known every 104 names since 2003. If he believes ARod and the other 103 players shamed the game as much as he said, why is he just speaking about it now?
EDIT: It IS possible that Bud only knew that there were 104 players and didn't know the names of each player. That doesn't change my opinion but makes things a little different. I personally think if the issue with roids is the health of the players and the trickle down effect to kids, then it shouldn't be any more of an outrage that the potential next HR leader did it than anyone else.Last edited by wwharton; 02-13-2009, 11:44 AM.Comment

Just saw on the Bottomline that it was 4 players that ratted out Arod to the Mets guy.
It was obviously all about a grudge against Arod. Lol I hope they were payed well for being rats.NBA: New York Knicks

Re: A-Rod tested positive for 'roids in '03
Selig and the baseball owners are just as responsible for this steroid mess as are the players. The reason the owners and Selig did nothing is simple. It was not economically in they're interest to clean up the game. IE the homerun chase of 98 that drew interest from baseball and non baseball fans alike. And Bonds. If anyone shed shame on baseball its that paper tiger Selig and all the owners who pay his salary. How about Bud's brillant decision during the allstar game in his former teams park, to have that game end in a tie. And we wonder why things are so messed up in the game. Baseball needs to release all the names, I'm no big ARod fan, but its simply not fair that his name is the only one out there.Comment

Re: A-Rod tested positive for 'roids in '03
It'd be less fair to the other 103 players to release their names just because ARod's name was leaked. I won't mention the legal issues with the MLB releasing those names again, but you can also consider that there will never be another attempt to poll players for honest opinions or results of any kind if the names were released.Comment

Re: A-Rod tested positive for 'roids in '03
Its just a matter of time now before all of these names are released. Once the Feds got the list, just like anything the Feds get their hands on it gets leaked eventually. At least i think so.Comment
