Same here.... no specific sliders... Timed hitting, fast pitching, no pitch preview/cursor, on All-Star level... I just played a 4-2 game last night, I lost after giving up an insurance homerun in the 8th inning.

                      Re: Timed Hitting

                      I have another view:
I've used timed hitting since I got the game. I started out at Pro and half way into the season I was clobbering the CPU. The games I lost were the ones I happen to lose when I simmed.
I switched over to Xcell's slider with a few tweaks here and there to adjust the CPU pitching, the Throw Strikes slider and the Stealing slider. I raised the Pitching to 90, the Throw Strikes is set at 5 and the Sliding is set at around 60.
I'm not the most savvy video game player....but I am no slouch either. With those settings...I've been able to get the most realistic results I can find. I am averaging about 7-8 hits per game and about 3-4 runs per game. When I play against pitchers like Mussina sn Garcia, I tend to SO a lot and occasionally against a pitcher like Rusch I also get stuck.
The only sticking point is pitch counts and I countered that by using HVP, no strike zone and no pitching cursor - makes things very very interesting.
Timed Hitting has been extremely fun for me and realistic. It's not just being able to place contact on the ball...you have to be able to hit the ball at the right place at the right time.

                      Just wanted to share.

ok....just started a new franchise with Houston. Played against the Rockies. Oswalt on the mound. box score was :

                          COL: 2 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 4 9 2
                          HOU: 0 2 4 0 0 4 2 0 X 12 19 1

                          and HR's from me:

                          Bagwell
                          Ensberg
                          Vizcaino
                          Berkman 2
                          Biggio 2

                          Pitching:

                          COL:

                          Totals: 8ip 19h 12r 11er 1bb 4so

                          HOU:

                          Oswalt went 6 1/3 with 6h 4r 2er 2bb 4so 2.84
                          Saarloos 1 2/3 with 2h 0r 0er 0bb 1so 0.00
                          Wagner 1 with 1h 0r 0er 2bb 1so 0.00

                          Pitch counts:

                          only mine: Oswalt-- 90 - 58 Saarloos-- 16 - 12 Wagner-- 28 - 16

Timed Hitting, Scells sliders, I think it was a decent game, I blasted the HR off of missed pitches that were piped down the middle or hanging breaking balls.
