You mean the guy we (PHI) paid $10 mil to, to pitch one game for us? That Freddy Garcia? Who had a deadarm when coming over? and is middiling around somewhere in the Mets farm system trying to regain his velocity...that Freddy Garcia?

    Ugh...Freddy Garcia.

The Mets already released him after 3 starts at AAA...

Relatively speaking, he has been a disappearing act compared to his previous numbers.
True, but it was his contract year in 04.

So, I don't think it is a "Where did he go?". It was more of a "Oh, it was his contract year? Ok. Makes sense, now."

Im sure with the whole steroid situation, we will be seeing alot more common faces drop off the planet. thinking about guys like beltre or a "brady anderson" type guy, steroids come to mind.

                You're kidding right?.

Garcia had a torn labrum and a frayed rotator cuff which required surgery in august 2007.
                That's pretty serious.

A couple guys to throw in there:
Junior Spivey, not a superstar by any means, but he had a great 1 year ride where he was an All Star, looked promising, then completely fell under the water
Mike Sweeney - could just be old age, but he was a stud in KC and now can barely hit
Paul Lo Duca - maybe not really, but this is a guy who had some good years and now I didn't even know he was playing for the Nats this year

I'd throw Hank Blalock into that group, but he's having a decent year so far.

Two guys I thought of who haven't played in awhile, but sort of fit the thread's title when they still were fiddling around in the majors...

Umm....how exactly did Dunn fall off? He's consistently been a 40+ HR, high OBP slugger, and that hasn't changed, as he's raking in Washington this year.

And Sheets is hurt, but he nowhere near fell off last year.
