    3) Keep keen eyes/ears open for a legitimate CF. Bernie is my fave player on the team, would have to say. His shoulders are holding up well this season (knock on wood), and he's off to a niice start. However, the Yanks would benefit mightily by a AJones/CBeltran/MCameron level of CF (db of course AJones has no peer). Given Bernie's age, hx of shoulder ailments, and switch-hitting ability, moving into the Yanks full-time DH slot would be a natural, i would think.

I don't really think a new CF is necessary for next year (btw, I love Bernie too!) because I think Bernie has about 3 good seasons left in him ( I mean .310 20 hrs 95 rbi). I don't really see why Matsui couldn't move there either and I think there will be potential call up of Juan Rivera to play LF.

I think next year, at this point, the Yankees should concentrate on their pitching staff. The staff is just getting too old, even the bullpen. Clemens will be gone so a starting spot will be open. From what we've seen from Contreras...so far...he's been a bust and I wouldnt want him starting. I hope they can trade for some young pitching in the offseason. The future is very important at this point in the Yankees dynasty.

i believe A. Jones is a free agent next year and how can you be sure that the Braves won't let him go, they let Glavine and Millwood go. Plus, Jones has not filled his potential offensively, the AL could help him do that. Not to mention that Jones and Bobby Cox haven't exactly been chums over the years.

        <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Ted Turner is reportedly interested in buying the team again..if he does and even if he doesn't , Jones is staying on the Braves.

I'm not a Yankees fan by any means but don't be so quick to call Contreras a bust. He's been pitching solid innings over in Triple A with the help of their pitching guru. His last stint was somewhere in the area of 8 IP, 2 ER, 8 SO and a couple of walks. His problem was his control. Once he regains that, don't be surprised to see him in the 3-4 spot next year.

The only problem with Contreras is that he could be 31 or 41..nobody ever knows how old the Dominican players really are.

Admittedly dumb question...how did he ever lose control of them? Were they part of the AOL/Time Warner acquisition?

Ah come on now, just enjoy this season and everything will take care of itself. If Vlad and Tejada want to sign with us, we'll defenitely find a spot for them. Anyways Giambi better come around soon!

I swear there's a shot of Soriano popping out to second in Anaheim last October in there somewhere. But hey, he almost went 40/40 in 2002.
