Thats another thing... the red sox coaching pisses the hell out of me. Why walk those 2 guys when you have a guy like Lyon who's never been in a pressure situation like that and you cant count on to get strikes. Although it was a tough situation thanks to the ever so fat manny.... that ball should have been caught, hillenbrand should have scored, RED SOX SHOULD HAVE WON.

    Oh god... my head hurts

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Walking those two guys was the right move, the only move, unless you want to pitch to Soriano who has about 50 HR's against the Sox already in his career. Once you walk Soriano, you have to walk Giambi to set up the double play. There is too much chance that you won't get Soriano on the front end of that double play, you want Giambi on first and Posada coming down the line to set up the double play. Lyon made every pitch he wanted to in that at bat except the last. The first to balls he threw were sinkers down and in that he just couldn't get Posada to chase. He just choked on 3-2, threw another sinker for some reason, just a bad decision with the bases loaded and a 3-2 count.

What do you mean by Hillenbrand should have been safe? He never should have left third, it wasn't close at the plate.

If I were Hillenbrand I would have jumped over Posada, not try to evade him. I would have gone over the top, like over the O line football style. He souldnt have gone though, youre right. The sox just had their chances and let it slip away. Its very disappointing because these wins were crucial to demoralize the Yanks, they had already been in a huge slump.

The red sox always seem to be the team to play when in a slump. I remember feeling that way so often at the end of last year. Remember when Oakland went on that huge streak? Started with the Sox and that Terrance Long robbed homer

      The dynasty will return

Kinda harkens back to the 50's when kids would sit at the street corner kibitzing about their favourite teams and sports topics. That's why the internet is so good! tho at times we get a lot of foolish ppl running around.

Take your loss like a man!! That pitch to Posada was questionable, but the ump was just paying back the Yanks for the horrible call on the 2-2 pitch to Mueller that should have ended the game. That was a pitch right on the outside corner that was called a ball. Just be happy that you caught Rivera on an off night and made a nice comeback. By the way, is there a worse outfielder in baseball than Manny? The guy is just atrocious out there, dating back to his Indian days.

Not even close. That pitch to Mueller was several inches off the plate.

The thing about Manny is that he's been above average at Fenway this year. He plays the wall perfectly now. When you put him in an OF with 30 feet of extra space behind him though he gets lost. At Fenway that ball would have hit the monster, I think Manny's judgement is way off on the road, it took him 10 seconds to even react to the ball, terrible.

I disagree. The pitch to Mueller was as close as the pitch to Posada, just on different parts of the plate. Both of them could very easily have been called strikes.

they were both close, but Lyon's pitch was over the plate and Rivera's was not, it's that simple. There were a few other pitches Rivera got squeezed on, but that one was clearly a ball.
