There are players I don't like but I have never spent my time in a forum crusading against a player like some of you guys do, it gets ridiculous the hatred some of you have for various players.

I'm sorry, I thought talking about players you dislike and players you like was part of talking sports.
I guess I should only talk about the players I like. From now on we should all only speak of the good things,
    that will be REAL interesting.

I think you know what I meant, there is a line that some cross, where it just gets absurd. I think you are close to crossing it. You made your statements, no need to continue to conjur up things like "all players know their favorite bat argument".

I like Sosa and I am disappointed that this happened, I would like to believe it was a mistake, but I really don't know.

Re: Whats in the bat, Sammy?

point taken, I am a Sosa ***** and there is a part of me that's loving this.

        Let's consider the odds...
he was using a corked bat
        1. In the middle of a huge slump (how many times did he strike out yesterday?) Yesterday!
        2. grabbed the wrong bat by accident
        3. And it just so happened to break that one single time he grabed it by accident.
        4. So it could've been a coincidence that his corked bat broke the one and only time he used it in a game, after it survived all those exhibition games and practice games.

then again he hasn't been hitting and that corked bat was calling his name, "Sammy, Sammy, use me, use me!" "Please Sammy I wont tell anybody, use me just this once."

He shouldn't even be showing off in batting practice. Just be yourself, man. Don't show off what you really can't do, 'cause then y ou are just a big disappointment in the game when you are 0-4 with 3 K's.

And one other thing, Sosa may have power, and he may not. However, people believe that Sosa, jsut because he hits more homeruns, is a better homerun hitter than Barry Bonds. Bonds is a better hitter AND homerun hitter. I tell ya, if Bonds and Sosa had the same amount of at bats AND wre pitched to equally (even times that Bonds does get pitched to, he's still getting pitches that are trying to go off the plate away), then Bonds would have like... 30 more homers than Sosa, and a much... MUCH better average than Sosa. Remember that Bonds got 198 walks last year, and like... 64 were intentionaly or something. That's just unfair as Sosa gets pitched to.

That's just what I think though.

So you bring Bonds in to this mess? Bonds and Sosa have gone through the same stuff, both used to be little guys who ran fast and hit a lot of HRs, not a TON like now, but a lot. Then magically they both get huge and hit HRs. No one magically hits 73 HRs w/o breaking some rule whether it be drugs or bats or whatever. You can say all you want about Bonds being better but I say he's a big baby w/ his stupid friggin football gear he wears to the plate. I'm glad Kerry Wood (my fav. player) hit 'em. He hit him where he doesn't have any gear. Bonds gets walked all the damn time b/c you can't pitch inside b/c he stands on the plate w/ that gear. Damn the gear!

Re: Whats in the bat, Sammy?

I've concluded that he didn't do this on purpose. I think Harold Reynolds made a good point about Sammy's reaction to the bat breaking. He just went back into the dugout as if nothing had happened. In the past when people's corked bats have broken they have all picked them up and tried to get rid of them. He didn't, he just went right back into the dugout leaving to corked bat on the field. And also, did anyone see the huge C on the top of the bat? If he was really using it you don't think he would have that on there. That shows that this probably was his batting practice bat like he said, and the C was on there so he wouldn't make this mistake.

I too absolutly hate the football gear Barry wears. I think the players with medical conditions requiring gear should be allowed to wear it and that's it.
