I can't blame them...you just don't show up late, especially when you've just been called up the game before.

Thank goodness the Bucs managed to salvage one game. Yet another no decision for Kip Wells too.....

Long time bucco fan checking into this thread.

Buccos need lots of help, first off you all notice guillen sorta pounding for cincy he would
look mighty nice in rf for pirates atleast platooning.

Anyways, nunez terrible when will they get rid of this guy, boeringer terrible, saurbeck
unreliable, actually most the bullpen aside from williams is a bit shaky.

Firstbase simon take some pitches will ya, reboluet doing well for pokes, Jack great glove
stick getting better,Aram finally starting to show promise again, K Loft, trade him for
somethin good before he slumps, Giles pounds but is walking too much, Reggie nice first
      week, thats about it,

      Starters not doing too bad.

All that adds up to a very inconsistent team, ill add ore later my computer is seriously
      pissing me off.

      Go Buccos

Duaner Sanchez getting sent back down was absolutely the right decision, IMO.

I'm not advocating a trade of Scott Sauerbeck. But, if we could get that kind of return it'd be hard to pass up. I'll take a productive everyday player for a reliever any day of the week.

Anybody take notice that EVERY Pirate farm team is at least 9 games over .500 so far? Nashville is 42-32, Altoona is 41-32. The A teams have just started their second seasons but both were well over .500 the first half. I don't put as much stock in Nashville's record because they have a lot of former major leaguers and minor-league free agents there. But, from Altoona down, the system's looking really good! Guys to watch on the farm:

Tony Alvarez, Tike Redman, J.J. Davis, Matt Guerrier, Duaner Sanchez (once he's out of the doghouse), and Humberto Cota - Nashville

Jose Castillo, John VanBenschoten, Sean Burnett, Josh Bonifay, and Shawn Garrett - Altoona

Ryan Doumit and Walter Young - Lynchburg

And, of course, Carlos Rivera, who's already in Pittsburgh!

I expect to see Walter Young as the future for the Pirates at first base starting about 2006. I can certainly live with Randall Simon/Carlos Rivera until then.

As for PittDawg's post, if I didn't know better, I'd say you were a Post-Gazette columnist.

I do agree with you on Nunez. I'm glad Reboulet is getting most of the starts now, but that just means that Nunez will make an appearance as a pinch hitter every game, which isn't good. Of course, he did score the winning run against Cleveland the other day.

I still don't trust Boehringer. Give me a call once you've shaved another 4 points off that ERA.

For players to watch in the farm system what about Bryan Bullington? He has been doing pretty well in A ball and I think he should do pretty well when in AA when he moves up at the end of the year.

Yeah, Brian Bullington is a guy I probably could've mentioned. What's funny about him, though, is that the Pirates only project him as a 2 or 3 starter and he's still in A ball, although he should move up to AA Altoona by early next season.

Walter Young could be the next Mo Vaughn. Hopefully the Boston version.
