I think Bernie would be up near the top if he was healthy.Bernie is still a great defensive centerfielder. He MIGHT have lost a step but still can run down those shots to death valley in Yankee Stadium.

Pos G PO A E DP FP
CF 853 2110 61 27 14 .988 (Jim Edmonds)
CF 866 2372 65 25 17 .990 (Andruw Jones)
Prior to this season, in Jim Edmonds' 10 year career he has won 5 Gold Glove awards.
Andruw Jones won the same number of Gold Gloves in his 7 year career.
Other guys who were mentioned that have won Gold Gloves are Griffey(14 years, 891 Gs, .985%) with whopping 10, Bernie(12 years, 974 Gs, .991%) with 4, Torii(5 years, 504 Gs, .992%) with 2, Cameron(8 years, 847 Gs, .990%) has one.
Lofton(12 years, 949 Gs, .985%), though he wasn't mentioned, has 4. Beltran and Vernon, sadly, have none so far..
One other thing.. Making a great catch seems like routine with Andruw." I look at him and it's getting to the point where it's just scaring me. He looks younger but he doesn't carry himself in a younger manner. He's impressive, and I'm glad we drafted him. "

Re: whos the best CF in the majors???
Andruw Jones is the best centerfielder in the game. He makes plays look so easy. People often question whether he is the best because he's done it so long that people take it for granted. Offensively, I think Edmonds might have a slight edge, but Jones is no scrub with the stick either. Tori is probably the best defensively in the AL. Beltran is going to be the centerfielder of the future for the AL and Vernon Wells is an rbi machine. I think someone to watch in the NL would be corey patterson. He has a blend of defensive prowess and hitting as well. If he develops more patience at the plate and some more power, he could compete for the best centerfielder position.Comment

Re: whos the best CF in the majors???
Sad to see Darin Erstad getting no love at all. The man is the best defender in the game, bar none. I'd say the "complete package" is definitely Jim Edmonds, but Erstad is the best defender.
I'm a Braves fan. Andruw Jones simply isn't the defender he was two years ago, and that's to be expected. He's older and he's filled out. Expect guys like Bradley to lose luster defensively as well.
Bernie Williams is pretty bad defensively, even though he used to be pretty good. He solidifies the horrible Yankee Middle Defense (with Jeter, Soriano, and Bernie). Bernie's one of the better offensive CFs, though.
Vernon Wells is a monster, offensively and defensively. Mike Cameron as well (I'd say the Griffey deal worked out for the Mariners OK, eh?). Melvin Mora is having an awesome year, he may keep it up, he may not, but he's been up there with the best of them this year.
Corey Patterson's having a great year, but I'm not totally convinced yet.
Overall..
1. Jim Edmonds
2. Darin Erstad
3. Mike Cameron
4. Andruw Jones
5. Vernon WellsComment
