Just a side note: I was watching MLB Now and I was shocked to learn that MLB's own official historian (John Thorn) doesn't even have a vote!

So then why bring up that he was clean? Seems unnecessary then if you're giving every player the benefit of doubt.

(sidenote, im not saying mcgriff was juicing, just hate someone saying X player was definitely clean/dirty cause no one knows)
Don't you EVER read my blog? It's gotten a lot better.

The reason I brought it up was because of the 500 homers...a player who is deemed clean with 500 homers is pretty much a lock. I was saying if he had gotten those 7 more homers (and he most likely would have if not for the strike) he would already be in.

If I had a vote of my own, my ballot (in order of priority) would be:

          BONDS
          CLEMENS
          JOHNSON
          P. MARTINEZ
          PIAZZA
          BIGGIO
          BAGWELL
          RAINES
          SCHILLING
          TRAMMELL

Now, who I actually think will get voted in this year is another story. Randy Johnson and Craig Biggio are slam dunks. Beyond that, it's anybody's guess. Pedro absolutely should be in on the first ballot, but with the way the writers have voted in the past, who knows?

In any event, until both Bonds and Clemens are in, the whole thing is a sham anyway.

I can't see any world in which Pedro doesn't get in overwhelmingly…just no.

Watched MLB Network tonight…based on votes counted so far they are predicting FIVE inductees (Johnson, Martinez, Smoltz, Biggio, Piazza). Don't believe it will happen, but would be way cool.

I think Piazza gets in just not this year. Three only this year. Pedro Johnson and Smoltz.

Craig Biggio was not a Hall of Fame caliber player.

I tend to agree with you on this one but i'll have to look at the numbers again to be sure.

Good job by the BBWAA. It looks like Piazza is gonna make it next year. Schilling saw the biggest bump in % with a 10% increase. Tim Raines also gained votes as well.

I would've voted for Moose, Mattingly, and Edgar Martinez for sure. The guys who made it in deserved it though.

I think Biggio made it for the 3,000 hit mark and the never say die attitude. Dude always went out and gave 110%. He was constantly a 20 HR guy who was an excellent fielder. I got to see him play lots of times at the Astrodome. Im not the biggest Astro fan but if anyone deserved it, he did. Im wondering if Bagwell ever gets in or is the Steroid rumor charge going to hurt him?

Congrats to the inductees. Pedro was a beast in his prime.

Took him 20 years to reach 3000 career hits. Biggio was a very good player, not great. Never did I ever see him play and think "this guy is a game changer". Again, very good player, just not Hall of Fame quality in my opinion.
