I'm not sure. I think all of the steroid-era players, barring a few rare expections, are fair game for steroid allegations. There's no middle ground on this. You either have to cast a large net and exclude all of the steroid-era sluggers or not cast one at all, instead of speculating who might have or might have not used PEDs.

For the record, the only player that I am totally convinced is "clean" is Frank Thomas.

I'm 99.9% sure that Chipper Jones has been clean. He never had a 'roid body, never exceeded 45 home runs, has aged appropriately, and has been very outspoken about testing.

Who cares, they're all dirty with something or other.

Perhaps, but Frank Thomas has been advocating for drug testing since as early as 1995 and was the only active MLB player who agreed to be interviewed by the Mitchell investigation.

I'd also put Curt Schilling in the "lock" category for similar reasons.

Was Chipper asked to meet with Mitchell?

I wouldn't know the answer to that, but Thomas did meet voluntarily with the Mitchell investigators.

Then again, I've never really cared about the steroid controversy. I'd still let all of the proven steroid sluggers (Bonds, A-Rod, McGwire, Palmerio, etc.) in.

It wasn't voluntarily, he was asked as all of the other players were. He simply agreed to.

Which is the definition of a voluntary action.

He wasn't forced to cooperate with Mitchell. He simply chose to, unlike any other active player at the time in baseball.

That is not voluntary. If I'm asked to do something and I comply, I am not volunteering.

But enough with English 101. If a player has reasonable diminshing skills as his age continues to rise I don't sense any PEDs being used. Chipper digressed slowly in a logical manner...unlike players such as Clemens, Steve Finley, etc.

Whether or not you're asked is irrelevant. If you willingly choose to do something, you're volunteering.

This is a pretty ironic bump considering A-Rod is 1 away from 600.

As long as he doesn't suffer a devastating injury, the record is his.
