    Re: cubs get Lofton/ Ramirez

Okay...now that the inital shock of this "trade" has passed...

After the trade was announced, Littlefield and McClendon addressed the media and explained that the Bucs were freeing up as much money as possible so they can bring in as many players as possible. This includes being serious players in the free-agent market. My question is this: what free-agents do they plan to bring in? If you need quantity, what kind of quality will you get?

A guy like Jose Guillen comes to mind. He's only 27 and has stated he'd love to return to Pittsburgh. He seems to have matured. Shouldn't be that expensive.

I don't know who all is going to be available this winter. But, which direction they choose to go will be very interesting.

Now it's obvious why Littlefield extended McClendon's contract. The guy definitely has a game plan, that's for sure.

I hope you're right about Juan Cruz coming to Pittsburgh.

I'm never sure why the "Player to be named" is not named at the time of the deal. Especially in this case. Hope it is Cruz, though. Or, maybe Frances Beltran?

Maybe the Bucs and Expos can split time in Puerto Rico next year.

I like the trade for the Cubs, but if the player to be named later is Juan Cruz, then I will be nervous, he has a chance to be awesome, but then he might be a guy who always struggles with his control.

Seeing Tom Goodwin pull up with a bad hamstring tonight, I was hoping they would get Lofton soon.

Hernandez makes a lot of money too, so I how is this helping the Pirates? Unless the Cubs picked up some of his salary too.
