    Re: cubs get Lofton/ Ramirez

I like the trade for the Cubs, but if the player to be named later is Juan Cruz, then I will be nervous, he has a chance to be awesome, but then he might be a guy who always struggles with his control.

Seeing Tom Goodwin pull up with a bad hamstring tonight, I was hoping they would get Lofton soon.

Hernandez makes a lot of money too, so I how is this helping the Pirates? Unless the Cubs picked up some of his salary too.

cubs probably threw Cruz in. I'd rather let go of Estes and Farnsworth.

Well, the Pirates have nobody to play third base, so at least Hernandez is a warm body. Abraham Nunez is the only other player on the Pirates roster capable of playing third, although Craig Wilson can play there in a pinch. They have a guy named Mike Gulan at Nashville, but he's hardly a prospect.

Juan Cruz has got some serious raw potential. I do hope he's the player to be named.

I did see the Cubs did throw in cash, so that makes more sense. I hope Aramis comes through, he is having a pretty decent year.

I am thinking Cruz might replace Estes in the rotation soon, if Estes doesn't get his act together, how long do teams have to deal the Player to be named later? Seems like I have seen it done in the off season.

Cruz when has his change and breaking ball working and spots his fastball is almost unhittable, problem is he seems to lose his release point a lot.

"The Pirates, making their second deal of the day and third in three days, also get minor league pitcher Matt Bruback and a player to be named. Pittsburgh also gave up a small amount of cash. Bruback is 6-8 with a 3.96 ERA at Triple-A Iowa."

Straight from the AP, Pitt gave up cash, not Chicago.
