This is getting ridiculous. Reds farmhand Billy Hamilton stole his 100th base last night. He’s played in 78 games. That puts him on a pace for 179 steals. When we last took notice of his pace in early June he was projected to steal a mere 160. The affiliated professional record is held by Vince Coleman, who swiped 145 for Macon in the Sally League in 1983.Comment

Re: The Official Pimp Yo Prospect Thread
At this point I think the pitchers and catchers watch him steal second, why bother throwing down?
Edit: I love hindsight, but we could've had him instead of Everett Williams. My gosh those "toolsy" centerfielders from that 2009 draft have been major disappointments.Last edited by BatsareBugs; 07-03-2012, 04:48 PM.Comment

Re: The Official Pimp Yo Prospect Thread
Over his last 10 games, Manny Machado is batting .324/.419/.595 with 2 HR and 15 RBI...season numbers now .263/.346/.410 with 6 HR and 46 RBI. Might not look amazing, but he's either the youngest or second youngest player in AA right now.Comment

Nothing to pimp about the Padres 2012 draft picks. The pitching trio have been lackluster in rookie ball.Comment

Re: The Official Pimp Yo Prospect Thread
Yaisel Puig has hit 4 HR already in 8 games in the low levels of the minors, I think he will be up in 2-3 years.
1st round pick, Corey Seager hit his 1st HR in the minors, still see him as the future 3rd baseman right next to Hanley on the left side of the infield.
And the Dodgers best hitting prospect right now, Joc Pederson is having a very good year in the minors.
Also, I think Allen Webster is pretty close to a call up with the big league team. If not in September, he will certainly be up next season.Comment

Re: The Official Pimp Yo Prospect Thread
Well, let's try to revive this old thread. It's interesting to go back and see names on this page like Puig/Hamilton/Fernandez/Machado. Anyways, Joey Gallo is off to an amazing start of 2014, and will likely get promoted to AA soon. The 20 year old already has over 70 career MILB HR's in just under 200 games. He broke the Arizona League record for HR's in 2012, and if he had not missed a month of the 2013 season, he likely would have broken both the South Atlantic League HR record (He fell 2 short) and the Low A record (He missed by 4). Tonight, Gallo went 3-4 with 3 HR's and 3 BB's. In 19 games, here's the numbers he's put up.
.359/.458/.891
9 HR's
22 RBI's
He's struggled with his strikeout rate in the past, striking out in 37% of his AB's in 2013, however, he's dropped that number down to 27% this year, without hurting his walk rate, or any other part of his offensive game. He has 80 grade raw power, and he's a pretty decent defender on top of that. It'll be interesting to see if he sinks or swims when the Rangers eventually promote him to Frisco.Comment

How'd we go through the 2013 season without a single post in this thread?Comment
