Re: The Official Pimp Yo Prospect Thread
If we're going to be playing that game, Matt Lollis has you all beat!
Edit: Okay, nevermind, he doesn't have a 98 mph 2-seamer and a breaking pitch that makes people jump around and shake their heads. He's still a 19-yo/20-yo 6'7" 230 lb pitcher drafted last year. He was part of an exciting trio with Keyvius Sampson and Adys Portillo in Eugene, but was promoted to Fort Wayne for good citizenship... i mean, for doing well in Eugene.Last edited by BatsareBugs; 07-30-2010, 05:10 PM.Comment

Am I the only one that thinks that Strasberg is way over hyped and somewhat overrated by the majority of fans and analyst? I just don't think he is as good as people tend to think he is.Comment

Re: The Official Pimp Yo Prospect Thread
As for Pineda, what is his complete arsenal? Him as Strasburg both have fastballs in the upper-90's, but does it have the sinking or running movement? Does he accompany it with a devastating slider or any other pitches that is ranked top-notch? That's the thing. It's one thing to have a prospect comparable to another pitcher (i.e. a few years ago Mat Latos vs. Jordan Walden) but it's another to completely overblow a prospect of your team. For that second part, I am guilty of doing that back a few years ago with Tim Stauffer, Wade LeBlanc, Jared Wells, and other pitchers.Comment

Re: The Official Pimp Yo Prospect Thread
I saw Pineda pitch in person, and he has a 98 MPH FB, and a 94 MPH FB that has late 2 seam movement, that tends to run away from RH hitters. He also throws a 84-86 MPH change, and a 88-90 MPH 12-6 curve, he is also working on a slider. I wen't there with the purpose of watching him pitch so I was paying close attention to what he threw. And it was that game that he wen't 5 innings striking out 13, and only allowing 1 hit. Baseball America lists him as having the best command of any pitching prospect in our organization. So when you have that wicked stuff and great command, you're pretty damn good.Last edited by GreenReign86; 07-30-2010, 07:24 PM.Comment

On a side note, I'm impressed with Pineda's numbers in High Desert, even if its only 44 innings.Comment
