I can't imagine ANY baseball owner giving Ripken the snub, much less in Baltimore.

Angelos ought to be run out of town on a rail.

I really have to feel for the people of Baltimore...a historically loyal fanbase for both baseball and football, and y'all have gotten stuck with two of the worst owners in the history of professional sports.
    Angelos is a caniving moron.

A (small) part of me hopes we never do turn into a competitor under his regime just so his ego doesn't grow any bigger.

It's really disappointing, because since AM was hired, we really haven't heard that much from him, so we figured he was finally staying out of the way and leaving the baseball decisions to baseball people. Obviously this was too good to be true. It's amazing what this guy has done to this team. Save the '96 and '97 seasons and there really isn't one other positive. He has:

-Nixed deals that involved us getting Derrek Lee, Scott Rolen, and A.J. Burnett among others.

-In 2001 AND 2004 ordered that the team take a college pitcher. The '01 pick (Chris Smith) was a complete bust and the '04 pick (Wade Townsend) never signed and later blew his arm out.

-Ran one of the best PBP guys in baseball (Jon Miller) and the best manager they've had since Earl Weaver (Davey Johnson) out of town...keep in mind Davey won Manager of the Year a few months earlier.

-Rarely, if ever opens the bank for marquee free agents because of Albert Belle's freak hip injury. IIRC the only guy he's signed to a $10 million+ a year contract since has been Tejada.

-Predictably got defensive and attacked the fans in response to the "Free The Birds" protest

I could go on for days. It's still amazing to me how this team has fallen so far. From 1964-1983 they were one of, if not the best team in the major leagues, and now we're a complete embarrassment.

        The Rangers defense is atrocious...

Who is this guy the Nats have that looks like Livian Hernandez? He looks like him, has the same name, but his ERA is less than his weight...I'm having a hard time computing.

Does anyone want to score in this Mets/Cardinals game?

The Red Sox ****in' suck. I hate watching baseball.

Bottom of the 11th, bases loaded, no one out....and they don't win the game. Absolutely ridiculous.

I'm really, really hoping he pitches at Coors this year so I can see him throw.

                    no...

Cardinals are doing there best to not score when they have men on 2nd & 3rd with no one out. Schumaker strikes out and Ludwick is on his way.

I'm embarrassed to call myself a Cardinals' fan right now. ****ing pathetic!

Hey, you may have not scored yet, but at least you have hits. The Braves are going to get no-hit tonight. They have looked pathetic at the plate.

I honestly, truly believe that Tony LaRussa does not want to win this game.

The way he's managing he doesn't. Taking out Holliday via a double switch and then not pinch hitting for Motte with the bases loaded, when he only left Motte in for 2 batters the next inning.

And then not pinch hitting for Hawksworth with the bases loaded AGAIN. And Hawksworth didn't even take a swing. He probably told him to try and draw a walk, in his first Major League plate appearance, in the most important AB of the game. Unbelievable.
