Oh, and after all of this, the Yankees are OK with pitching?! Please. This just goes to show you that after the Benitez deal, the NYY pen hasn't gotten any better

I thought you were talking about starting pitching before, but who else was available? It wasn't like a top of the line reliever was out there, and they passed him up in favor of Boone.

And if Soriano doesn't make an error, we win this game anyway.

And if ******* Jeremy Giambi had slid at the plate in 2001, the Yankees probably would have been done that year.

Point is, there is always an if, and, or but. That's how the bounces go.

I suppose the Yankees could have gotten a hit when they had a runner on 2nd with 1 out in the top of the ninth, too. That would have also won the game, but they didn't.

My point isn't to make excuses why we lost, it's to say the pitchers did there job. Orosco got his batter, Benitez got a batter, and then gave up a couple baserunners. He could have got out of it with one out, but Joe brought Mariano in. And Rivera did his job and got a easy groundball. The pitching didn't lose this game, the defense did.

I see what you're saying now, but you are wrong. The defense put them in a position where they could lose, but they didn't lose it for them. That pitch that Tejada blasted to win the game couldn't have been any fatter.

                            <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

I see what you're saying now, but you are wrong. The defense put them in a position where they could lose, but they didn't lose it for them. That pitch that Tejada blasted to win the game couldn't have been any fatter.

                            <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Well, I agree with that. And wasn't the count 0-2 or 1-2?

Osuna is pretty bad, I just hope a couple other pitchers can step up, and he won't need to be used anymore in big situations.
