for your new avatar, Matt. We're gonna have to do some more avatar bets this year for the Fish/Jets games.

No we're not, I never win them, I think they jinx the team. No more avatar bets for me.

I thought you were talking about starting pitching before, but who else was available? It wasn't like a top of the line reliever was out there, and they passed him up in favor of Boone.

And if Soriano doesn't make an error, we win this game anyway.

                  <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Scott Williamson from Cincy was available, until Boston took him.

You guys signed Jesse Orosco, a 46 (?) year-old reliever for 1 batter a game?! That is SAD.

Even though he may be great against left-handed bats, that's still no reason to pay a pitcher millions for.

Just another example of the monopoly the New York Yankees exhibit on the MLB.

I also recently read an article from the NY Daily News:

It basically summarizes that the Yankees fear the A's starting pitchers.

You guys think getting Boone was the answer? A 3B that can swing a bat will guide you guys to another WS trip? It's a risky gamble, one I sure wouldn't take.

First, nothing was wrong with Ventura. He swings a decent bat and has very good defensive skills. He had playoff experience and knew what it took to win.

Now, you deal your top prospect in the farm (and a LHP, at that) for _another_ 3B? Come on. Do you guys realize how hard it is to come across a quality LHP these days?

I just think it will come back to bite the Yankees in the arse, because Claussen has quality stuff. Then in another 1-2 years, NYY will be asking themselves, "Why did we ever deal Claussen away?!"...

                        Just my opinion.
