My buddy had Braden going today against me in our fantasy league. His perfect game gave him the edge in Wins, ERA, K's, WHIP, and No Hitters (a ridiculous fantasy stat to have anyway). Before that game I was beating him in 4 outta 5 categories. Plus, the A's won which hurt the Mariners.

At least the M's finally won a freaking game.

For those who hadn't heard it, (not surprisingly I didn't hear ESPN mention it) but it's extra special that this happened today for Braden because his mother passed away from cancer when he was in high school...

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Did Braden let his team jump on him at the mound, or did he start yelling at them to get off his mound.

Congrats to Braden. Always glad to see someone throw one, as long as its not against the Yankees.

Two years straight the Rays get a perfect game thrown on them. Has that ever happened before? It's weird becuase they weren't even a bad team either year.

You dont need to be a bad team to be perfect game'd.

No. Closest was the Dodgers in 88 and 91.

I think it's more of Mark Buerhle & Dallas Braden being similar type pitchers. The Rays struggle against crafty LHP's with good control perhaps?

I wouldn't exactly call Buerhle a crafty lefty. He has some stuff that the classical crafty lefty would DREAM to have. I think it's more the case of the Rays having a team that can get into a free swinging mode and it can sometimes come back to bite them.

Their talent overall and patience at times is what keeps them from being a team like the Rangers or White Sox who swing away far too often which puts them into a hole.

Congratulations to Dallas Braden. Only 19 players threw a perfect game in the history of the sport.

                          Amazing.
