Some quotes from The World's Worst Umpire:

"Biggest call of my career, and I kicked the s**t out of it."
"I don't know what to do. I just cost that kid a perfect game."

The entry also lists his death date as today. I understand people are upset, but that's unacceptable. The guy made an absolutely terrible call and I'm sure he feels terrible about it...but the people wishing death on him need to get a grip. With that said, tomorrow's game is going to be very interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if he's pulled from umping that game.

BTW, his wiki entry is protected now.

If I'm Bud Selig forget about the rules because I make them. I'm going to review that play all tonight and all tomorrow. If I think that the runner was out, I'm giving Armando Galarraga his perfect game. That is something that lives on forever, you don't play with history.

I'll tell you what, the interview with Galarraga right now about Joyce apologizing to him shows Galarraga is a good man...

            Props.

Should but it in the history books with an asterisk next to it so people know it was in reality a perfect game if not for a blown call.

Armando Galaraga talking about Jim Joyce (paraphrased) - "[Joyce] apologized, and I know no ones perfect"

                      oh the bittersweet irony

Nope, not with all the other blown calls throughout history that have stood.

I think one thing this shows is that MLB needs instant replay. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity and unfortunately, it was blown by the ump. Gotta feel for Galarraga...

LOL @ people thinking Bartman is relieved. As bad as this is, this has nothing to do with the Cubs so Bartman continues on.

As far as the call, what can be said what hasn't been said already. Hopefully it's changed tomorrow morning.

Huh...so you're saying if you had a chance to take a second look at it, you might've changed the call? What a novel concept.

                              Instant replay. Now.

He is not the worst umpire in history, he just made the worst call in history. I feel almost as bad for him as Galarragga. I just watched the interview on MLBN, and man, Galarragga is a great guy - despite being heartbroken (which was evident by his facial expressions if not his words), he was very professional, didn't call out Joyce, and actually said he hugged Joyce. He threw a perfect game and deserves it; I just hope Joyce doesn't get annihilated by all baseball fans for this - he is not a bad ump, he just made a bad call.
