I can't describe how proud and lucky I was to have Mr. Steinbrenner as the owner of the yankees growing up. We lost a legend and an icon. RIP Boss, you will be truly and forever missed from the sport of baseball, and the yankee family.
Too bad you weren't around during the mid-to-late 70s. It really was a Bronx Zoo, with George, Billy and Reggie dominating the back pages. Every day, something went down, and George loved the attention. Ask your dad, he'll tell you.

The Boss had a bad side - he could be cruel, petty and mistreated a lot of people. Look at how he dealt with his managers, especially Billy Martin. He made illegal campaign contributions to that scumbag Nixon, and tried to get dirt on one of his own players(Dave Winfield). He was a complicated man, that's for sure. But he never accepted second-best from his team, that's what you want in an owner.

Bill Lee was not known as the "Spaceman" because he marched in lockstep with everyone. The former pitcher is one of the few not to express condolences over the death of Yankees' owner George Steinbrenner.
