Could it happen could the Cubs win it all.

I hate the Cubs more then anything. I'm Padres and White Sox fan but living in Chicago all I hear about is the Cubs. Ive been watching this team lately and they have the best starting pitching Ive seen in a while. I know San Diego is bad this year but they shut the Pads down like they were a minor league team. If the Cubs make the playoffs which they should with how easy thier schd. is in Sept.. I'm really afraid they are going to win it all. It would be a sad for me because now no one would ever even talk about the Sox again. In 1984 the Padres made me happy when they beat the Cubs 3-2 after losing game 1 13-0. However the Pads are not around this year and all the best teams in the NL are built around hitting and usally pitching beats hitting in the end. Does anyone agree or are the Giants, Braves and Cardinals able to knock these guys off. I sure hope so.

The Cubs are good not that good. First they can't even pull away in a very medoric NL Central. Second their offense isn't doesn't hit on a consistant basis, the only one who does now adays looks like Sosa. And if they are able to win the weak NL Central, they would probably have to play the Braves or Giants, both of whom could beat the Cubs in the playoffs.

Don't get me wrong the Cubs are a good team and may suprise people if they start to get on a role, but right now even with the great pitching they have I dont think they will be able to win the NL pennent.

The Braves are an offensive team, and good hitting usually surrenders to good pitching. Atlanta has pretty good starting pitching, but nobody that could go up against Prior, Wood, Zambrano/Clement. Russ Ortiz is their best option, and he isn't as good as any of them. The Cubs are more likely to win the division than the wild card, so they would play the Giants, who they have taken 4 of 6 from this year.

I would be somthing if they won. 94 years since they last won it. However I hope they don't. If they do I think the White Sox would be in real trouble in the city if they do. Sox fans are getting harder to find and if the Cubs win they could become even smaller.

As much as I hope for it, I don't think it will happen. The offense is just too inconsistent. While I do think we'd dominate most teams in the playoffs, I don't think we can get past the Braves...unless we don't use Estes (and possibly Clement--he's too spotty) and just use our 3 quality pitchers.

First off- 4 of 6 games means NOTHINING when it comes to the playoffs.
Secondly- the Giants will likely play the Wild Card as it will probally be the Phillies or Marlins.
Third-and most importantly- DUSTY WILL FIND A WAY TO BLOW IT!!! He's a genius when it comes to this. He'll start Karros at shortstop if he has to. Whatever it takes to lose, he'll get the job done.
oh wait, I'm just a bitter Giants fan.
I just don't see the Cubs having the experience (post-season) to get out of the first round of the playoffs. They're a few years away, if they keep their staff together.
