Re: Could it happen could the Cubs win it all.

I am a cards fan... first off.

I think if the Cubs can win the division and get into the playoffs they have a VERY good chance to get to the series this year with that staff. I don't think anyone can argue that. the key is for them to get to post season though.

also.. note that their last 21 games of the season are against the Pirates.. Reds.. and Mets.

so if they choke.. they really choke!

Hey, thanks for taking the high road and not bashing us. I thought you guys had a pretty good chance, but Morris is a big loss for you guys, and you haven't found a decent replacement yet. The Cubs were able to replace Patterson with Lofton, but the only good pitcher available for you guys is Livan Hernandez, and if he pitches 41 more innings, then he gets $9.5M next year, I don't think Walt Jocketty would like that.

If we get into the playoffs, I think the rotation should be Prior 1st game, Zambrano 2nd game, then Clement and Wood pitching a combined game 3 effort. I honestly don't think Wood is ready to pitch in the playoffs because he is very shaky on the mound during the 4th inning.

cubs can hang with the braves, but eventually ATL would put them away, i think...Atlanta is takin the world series this season man, regardless of who comes out of the AL...

They used to say a team wouldn't win the WS if they had three or more ex-Cubs on their roster.

So, in the Cubs case, can THEY win a WS with three ex-Pirates on their roster?

The Cubs have a shot if they can win the division because of their pitching. The Braves? They'll hold true to form like they always do and get knocked out in either the NLDS or NLCS. In fact, I hope Florida wins the wild-card just so I can watch them knock off the Braves in the division series, just like they beat them in 1997. How sweet THAT would be!
