    1. Take a poll of NL pitchers asking them who the MVP is - I think Bonds would win running away.

    2. Even if their hitting stats were very close you also have to look at defense and Bonds is the clear choice there.

Yes, Bonds' defense is better than Pujols', but Bonds' defense is nothing to brag about anymore.

I want to add another point

            3) Bonds' performance at his age is truly remarkable. Any player at his age having played all his career in the National League would be declining by now but no Bonds is actually putting up gaudy numbers. Yes his defense has slipped a bit over recent years but he's not a liability in the field. Pujols is young enough that he'll probably still be just as dominant in a few more years and will win a couple or so MVP awards.

Tho seeing how Pujols is performing this year maybe they should split the award.

I'm not saying that he's a gold glover anymore (with some of the great outfielders around now), but he's just a notch below gold glove.
Pujols is a liability in the field (at least from what I've seen) but he does seem to have a strong work ethic so it wouldn't surprise me if his defense improved greatly over the next few years.

Bonds better on defense? This is a person who let two balls drop behind him in one game earlier this year. He can't even get to a lot of balls anymore, that is why all the talk of being a DH after his contract runs out. Pujols has quite a few outfield assists this year AND he can play 5 positions (3 OF, 1B and 3B)

                        2. in addition about the NL pitchers asking who the MVP is, why can't they give Albert an 0 fer in 30 games now, he always finds a way to get a hit, many of them homeruns. Pujols is one of the few complete players in teh game nowadays and what's hes doing at such a young age is unbelievable! I can't believe all the *** kissers for bonds in this topic!!! Triple crown and this sort of hitting streak doesn't happen every year.

Well i know its a very close race. But if u set up this situation for a second. World series bottom of the 9th two outs bases loaded two outs. What guy is a pitcher not gonna wanna face at all i'd give the edge to bonds there.
