Well i know its a very close race. But if u set up this situation for a second. World series bottom of the 9th two outs bases loaded two outs. What guy is a pitcher not gonna wanna face at all i'd give the edge to bonds there.

1. Take a poll of NL pitchers asking them who the MVP is - I think Bonds would win running away.
2. Even if their hitting stats were very close you also have to look at defense and Bonds is the clear choice there.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
Bonds better on defense? This is a person who let two balls drop behind him in one game earlier this year. He can't even get to a lot of balls anymore, that is why all the talk of being a DH after his contract runs out. Pujols has quite a few outfield assists this year AND he can play 5 positions (3 OF, 1B and 3B)
2. in addition about the NL pitchers asking who the MVP is, why can't they give Albert an 0 fer in 30 games now, he always finds a way to get a hit, many of them homeruns. Pujols is one of the few complete players in teh game nowadays and what's hes doing at such a young age is unbelievable! I can't believe all the *** kissers for bonds in this topic!!! Triple crown and this sort of hitting streak doesn't happen every year.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
I'll agree with the secnond half of point #2, but what are you smoking? Pujols will never and I mean never play CF or RF. He has no arm whatsoever. Mostly from his bad shoulder. He has no range for CF. He is pretty dismal at 1B (Can't stretch worth a crap and pick 'em). He is just decent enough at LF, 1B, and 3B to not hurt the Cards. I'm not trying to take away from Pujols' great year. Hell, I would die if the Cubs had him, but your comments on his defense were funny.

What does this have to do with the MVP award? This ain't about who is the most feared player. Also, the last time I checked, The Baseball Writers' Association of America are the voters. Not the pitchers. I think you can make a case that if Albert Pujols played for the Giants, they would have had the same amount of success, or maybe not. Of course, Bonds doesn't have Renteria, Rolen, and Edmonds in his lineup, but Pujols doesn't have Schmidt, or the rest of the pitching that Bonds has, either.
I just don't understand the criteria that the voters follow. One year it's the best player of the year, the other, it's indeed who is crucial to his ballclub. Make up your mind all ready!
It won't suprise me if both end up being co-MVP's, but if Pujols continues hitting the cover off the baseball, I give it to him. Though, in the end it may come down to whoever takes his team longer in October, or maybe not...
Remember Luis Gonzalez in 2001? Well, Bonds won it that year
because he broke a couple of records.
P.S. Semiofftopic, but I think everyone is overhyping Bonds a little too much. Yes, he's remarkable, and all, but how can you intentionally walk him when a guy is on and with 2 outs? Especially when you're in the first inning?! It's not like you have a hard time scoring, but come on!Barry Bonds won't hit a homerun every at bat! Have some freaking guts! (refering to the Mets game the other day.)
They won the game so I guess good strategy?
My story changes in the postseason though.
Sorry about that." I look at him and it's getting to the point where it's just scaring me. He looks younger but he doesn't carry himself in a younger manner. He's impressive, and I'm glad we drafted him. "

Re: Idiot Chip Caray
The point of this whole post was commenting on Chip Caray's shortsightedness on saying someone who is not going to the playoffs is not deserving of an MVP. I apologize to the Cubs fan earlier who reminded me of Sosa's MVP in 98, probably well deserved since the Cubs went to posteason barely, I believe the Cubs lost to the Giants in one game playoff???
To the poster above,
I'm not trying to say Pujols is a gold glover, but he is capable of playing 5 positions, or 41/2 more than BONDS. The people who are saying BONDS CURRENTLY is better than Pujols defensively (and using that as criteria of why he is more deserving of the MVP) are the ones SMOKING somethin'

Re: Idiot Chip Caray
To all of the people who think Pujols deserves the MVP, find out what the Cardinals record is without Pujols and the Giants record without Bonds. I'd like to see what this comes up with.Comment

Not trying to be a jackass again, but in 1998 the Cubs won the one game playoff with the Giants and went on to get swept by the Braves.I doubt defense will come into play when MVP voting comes along. Plus neither one is really exceptional with the glove.
