ESPN's Baseball Tonight just reported that the Pirates will trade Brian Giles to the Padres on Tuesday in exchange for P Oliver Perez, either OF Jason Bay or Xavier Nady, and minor-leaguer Corey Stewart. Apparently, Jason Kendall is NOT part of the deal. This is supposedly a done deal.

The Padres probably decided it wasn't worth the money to add Kendall, and the Pirates probably didn't want to give up Kendall and still have to pay half his contract. If you're gonna pay him, might as well play him.Comment

Kendall is not in the deal cause the pads are going to pick up a Free Agent catcher and pitcher in the off-season so they felt like that just getting Giles that they could afford more in the off-season.The DuCross Brothers: Sports Internet Talk Show

Perez is signed for a couple of years for a cheap amount but through those years he'll develop. By the time his contract is up, he'll be good to go and knowing his agent Scott Boras, the Pirates won't be able to sign him, same can be said with Nady. Perfect.Comment
