    My thoughts exactly.

I probably wouldn't have watched most of a Phills/Yank series, but I will definitely be watching all of this one.

I'm sure the ratings won't live up to a series with BOSOX/NY/PHILLY/LA, etc., but I could really care less.

Holy crap, it's crazy looking at those ratings. 60 million people watched Game 7 of the 1987 world series - 22 million watched the Yanks/Phils Game 6. I didn't know baseball had declined so dramatically.

I guess part of it is the expansion of cable/satellite so viewers have more options but that's still nuts.

Good for baseball? Yes. Good for ratings? Probably not as good as Yanks/Phillies, but probably better than Rays/Reds or something.

I wonder how a Montreal-Yankees 94' series would have been for the ratings...

Ratings would've been huge on both sides of the border IMO.

I'm one of those people that love to see a different team in there each year. Actually, this year was really cool because you had the defending league champions make it back to their respective league championship rounds, but the new comer won out. So I like to see two or three teams in the running year in and year out, but then have that infusion of new teams to give them a run for their money.

I'm very intersted in Giants/Rangers. I know about the Giants having watched their series against the Phils, but I've missed out on pretty much all of the AL playoffs. I want to see those Rangers pitchers outside of Lee. It'll be nice to see Guerrero in his first World Series, too.

              Its great for me.

Major League Baseball isn't going to go bankrupt just because the Yankees or Red Sox aren't in the World Series. As a fan its very refreshing to actually hear talk of teams that exist outside of the Northeast.

To answer the OP's question, it's good all around IMO. The '02 WS between the Angels and Giants was great and this Tex/SF series has a potential to be really entertaining as well. It's become stale to see the Yanks/Red Sox continually in the WS mainly because each team has astronomical payrolls and usually is overhyped during the season.

The public always roots for the underdog...it's shown even in this thread before each series was final that the majority wanted a Tex/SF series. Both teams are relatively unknown so "unsung" heroes can emerge.

I see the Phillies and Yankees on television every other day here in Australia. Glad we get some new teams.
