if Matsui win ROY it'll be the 2nd time in last few years that an Indians player has been screwed out of ROY by a "rookie"

I'm beginning to think that because Matsui isn't exactly a rookie and his numbers aren't astronomically better than the other candidates that he won't win the AL ROY. What a shame. Life sucks.

Ichiro's numbers weren't astronomically better either. The only thing he did better than everyone else was hit the ball. Yea, baseball is about hitting, but what about the other stats?

The main issue with the year Ichiro won ROY is that writers starting believin this myth that Ichiro changed the way the Mariners played baseball. That's bull.

Ichiro an MVP? Come on, let's be serious. Bret Boone has been the most influential player on that team. Writers continue to think that Ichiro is this wonder that changed everythin. As if he's the most influential player in BASEBALL. Come on! Let's really stop and think about that for one second.

In baseball? Ichiro never deserved MVP that year and really doesn't deserve it this year.

But, this is about ROY. So sorry.

Why do I get the sinking suspicion you've never seen Ichiro play, much less on a regular basis. No one in baseball wins games in as many different fashions. It's not coincidental that the Mariners' fall has coincided with an Ichiro slump. No knocking Bret Boone, but Ichiro is awesome.

And yes, when he won ROY his numbers were astronomically better than any other rookie. And no, Matsui's aren't. And no, he probably won't win ROY. And yes, it'll be fun watching the yankee fans whine about the empty space on the shelf where the ROY award could be.
