At least you're not the Royals. Hochevar over Lincecum and Kershaw (and even Morrow)?

It's only dwarfed by San Diego picking Matt Bust over Justin Verlander.

Anyways, back to the thread I think Felix, pitching in the divison he piches in should have no problem putting together his 3rd straight sub-2.5 ERA this season, and possibly even another Cy Young. I'm just glad that we as Mariners fans now have two watchable games every 5 days, welcome to the show Pineda. I still torture my self and watch the other three game for some reason though.

I would love to contend this year, but I know that will not happen, unless the Rangers' starting 9 all get hurt, and the Angles don't change their walk off celebrations. But I am optimistic for 2011 though, freeing up some payroll, and a full year of Ackley, and possibly SS Nick Franklin. 2011 should be a fun year.
You can say that about any young pitcher... Felix has a lot of tread on his arm already. You can talk about deliveries and the arm violence of different pitchers all you want, but the bottom line is that the human arm is not built to throw a baseball 90+ miles per hour...

I think Lincecum's motion is talked about way too much. Until he starts hitting the DL on a consistent basis, he's fine.

We've been dealt a crap sandwich for a lot of years now.

If you're talking about me comparing Felix to Halladay, so be it. Since you didn't elaborate on that little (I'm assuming) snide remark, I will simply say that I quickly admitted that Felix is not on his level, at least yet. If your comment wasn't meant that way, I apologize.

He's been one of the few bright spots in Seattle sports over the past six years or so... Forgive Mariner fans who think he might be the best in the game. It's all we've got right now and it helps a lot of us hold on to our sanity.

Ownership may disagree with you. There are already rumblings that Jack Z may be on the hot seat.

Eh, I think Hernandez is hands-down the best pitcher in MLB, and that includes Halladay. He has more plus pitches than anyone else in the game, and he's a workhorse and doesn't get injured.

That being said, Halladay's great as well. You can't go wrong with either guy.

Really? How is this team ever expected to do anything with constant changes in leadership?

Assuming Halladay and Felix are considered the top 2, how do we feel about Wainwright being no. 3?

Eh, after Felix and Halladay, I think there's a big lump of starters that could all have a case for rounding out the top 5. Lincecum, Sabathia, Wainright, Lester, Ubaldo, Kershaw, and so on and so forth. I'd probably go Timmy #3.

I think pretty much everyone can agree that Felix and Roy are basically 1a and 1b, and everyone else is looking up at them.

I will throw this out there though. I think with another couple years under his belt, and assuming no health issues, Kershaw is going to have a case for being arguably the best starter in the league. I don't think he'll surpass Felix, but I think going forward, these two guys are going to be the class of the league.

Anyway, Halladay, Lincecum, and Hernandez are somewhat interchangeable in my opinion. I'd take Halladay 1st, with better stats and more experience, then Hernandez, then Lincecum. But really these guys are like the "Manning and Brady" of the MLB.

Because of the Josh Lueke thing. Knowingly trading for someone who has faced rape and sodomy charges is against the "Family + Barney + Golly Gee Folks" image the M's ownership aims for. If not for that, Jack Z would be just fine.

That would be a huge mistake. He is a good GM, and hasn't made any boneheaded moves, he was able to get value for Betancourt and Washburn with Cortes, and Robles. The Putz trade was also brilliant, being able to get Guti, Vargas, plus a couple prospects out of the deal. He is still trying to clean up after the mess that was the Bavasi years, he is finally going to have some payroll flexibility next year, and he has brought some respectibility to our farm system as well. I know the Lueke thing is a black eye, but who know's that may have been the only way the Rangers would have taken the deal.

Seriously, Bavasi traded Rafael Soriano for Horacio Ramirez, and Adam Jones along with a few other 5 star prospects for Erik Bedard, what we gave up to get Bedard, we could have also given up to get Roy Holladay. Then he signed Carlos Silva, and Richie Sexson to huge long term contracts.
