Ramirez apparently said he did not hit his wife, and that her injuries came from her hitting her head "after he 'shrugged' her."

Stupid moves indeed. He seemed all ready and determined to help the team with Damon, working hard in the offseason and losing 10 lbs.
I remember the night I heard the news that the Rays signed both of them and I got all excited, just thinking about the energy on that team and finally getting some quality bats into the order, though past their prime.
When Manny was happy, he could do just about anything. That run he had with the Dodgers in '08 was amazing. I thought maybe he would do that again with the Rays, which would be awesome to see because that team really deserves a lift on offense. And, as a sox fan, it would really be something to see him at Fenway multiple times during the season.
I guess it will live on as another one of those "what ifs". There's plenty of those in baseball. Don't even get me started on "the outfield that could have been" in Tampa....Crawford, Hamilton, and a disease-free Baldelli. That would have been amazing.Comment
