Prior to the batter he just faced, Luke Hochevar had retired 31 in a row going back to his last start against Seattle. Doesn't mean a thing, but still fairly impressive.

EDIT: And it seems like he's forgotten how to pitch from the stretch because of it.

The Mets could not have tried harder to lose that game...just...wow. This team isn't THIS bad.

I think that covers it so far.

The first one is a minor issue, I'll admit. The reason I wanted Hoch gone is because he's got a tendency to do exactly what he did. He seems to meltdown like that, and in my mind the Royals were lucky to get out of that inning only allowing four runs.

As for Tim Collins, I don't have any trust in his control right now. After tonight he's now up to seven walks in his last three innings pitched. Not to mention the five earned runs in the same time frame. Outside of Blake Wood, I would have rather seen anybody in the bullpen pitch there over Collins. That's not to say I've completely lost trust in Collins, but either he's pressing too much or he's tired, because he's not hitting his spots nearly as well as he was.

Meanwhile, Jered Weaver has gotten out in front in the AL Cy Young race. Complete game tonight with 8 Ks, no walks and 1 earned run allowed. By the way, it was against the Rangers in Arlington.

Jered Weaver... perennial AL Cy Young-caliber pitcher. Matt Bush... perennial bust of all time. Thanks for not putting aside your "no Scott Boras clients" policy Moores.

Cards take the nightcap of the double header 5-3, Mitchell Boggs converts a save! Hopefully the first of many for him, Sanchez with 2 more shutout innings and 2 more K's (this was his first pressure appearance, rest hes had big leads so easy for him to just relax, nice to see him perform here as well), and Motte had a scoreless inning, with those 3 I really like the back end of our pen, glad Franklin is out as closer.

Isn't baseball great when your team is playing well?

I've found myself watching the Royals games and only switching to the NBA Playoffs between innings, which is crazy for me because I LOVE the NBA playoffs.

Acta made some stupid decisions in that game too. He never should have let Masterson come back out for the 7th. Tribe dodged a bullet there.

I have to say I am impressed with the Royals. Definitely not the say team they have been since that big start a number of years back.

I have a feeling the Indians and Royals will play some meaningful games this year.

I just hope Acta doesn't become Mike Hargrove as far as not knowing when to give them the hook.
