It's really great to see the season Verlander is having, I hope he can officially have his name mentioned as a top 10, or even top 5 ace in all of baseball.

The Tigers are in an interesting situation, having one of the top pitchers & hitters in the game both entering (or continuing the early portion of) their prime, and both locked up. This should be a great opportunity to make some playoff runs.

Yeah just saw that, joy. Our 2 AAA pitching prospects who have some MLB experience have been injured and that's been a issue now with JJ out long term and Volstad/Vazquez sucking

JV is already a Top 10 ace. He is well on his way to being a Top 5 ace if he continues to consistently pitch the way he has for the rest of this season. The way he has baffled hitters by effectively mixing in his off-speed stuff with his fastball has been nothing short of phenomenal.

And after watching him over the last few weeks, I think Miggy is actually slumping a bit. Strange to say that considering he's still hitting above .300 and occasionally driving in runs. But that's the extremely high standard that he has set for himself with his track record.

He was batting .171 at the start of the game. Guy is really turning it around.

That may be the only nickname of yours that I like. I also saw it somewhere else before, but that's besides the point.

I also find it hard to believe he will continue to struggle this much. He'll come around. I think

Ugh Cards blew this game tonight, I didn't see it since I was working but I saw the score was STL 6 - WAS 2 at the end of 6, then I check my phone as I'm leaving work and see we lost 8-6, not sure what happened but damn.

Of course the Cubs beat the Brewers again so we could have had first place back but at least we're still tied for it.

The Reds are hanging in there to, only 2.5 back with both the Cards and Brew Crew struggling these past couple.

This was the guy I was hoping the Jays would get? GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY! Well thank goodness that didn't happen. What's happened to him to make him fall off the cliff so badly?

My guess without knowing about the mechanics (which I hope you guys fill me in on) is that once he got the big contract he started coasting.

Anyways...The Jays aren't without their struggles with personnel which I will get into in a second. I have to say "Thank goodness for the O's" Yes the Jays squandered a lead but Adam Lind was kind enough to bail em out in the 11th with his 12th HR. It was also nice to see Aaron Hill hit another homer for his 2nd on the year. Carlos Villanueva is said to be gaining confidence and he's actually become an effective starter for the team. It's going to take a while before he leaves the rotation the way things are going that way which leads me to....

Kyle Drabek was demoted last night and rightfully so. He's completely lost all confidence to the point that after his last start he said he couldn't even remember a time when he threw a quality game. He's essentially beating himself up every time on the mound. Also according to Gregg Zaun it seems that Drabek's mechanics are a bit messed up right now which I hope the organization knows about and will work on. Tomorrow Zach Stewart (of Scott Rolen trade fame) will be making his MLB debut. Stewart is said to be one of, if not the top pitching prospect in the Jays system. I'll be eagerly waiting to see how he does.

Joey Votto with the second clutch hit in 2 games after being 0-3 up to that point. Shows why is he such a good player. Even if Cordero was trying to revert to his last season form.
Also at above poster, Zach Stewart is a very good talent. I was kind of upset when the Reds traded him, but I forgot about him until you just posted that.

Might need to take a look at Escobar since Asdrubal is struggling...thanks for this.
