The Red Sox have to be one of the most unlikeable teams in the MLB.

Seriously, say whatever you want about the Yankees, but a team with guys like Youkillis, Pedroia, Ellsbury, Papelbon, Lackey, Beckett etc is just almost impossible to like in my opinion.

The only guys I like on the Sox are Ortiz, Lester, and Adrian Gonzalez.

Its been that way for a while but i honestly believe its changing. Yes we have the biggest Drama Queen/ Attention hog in Alex Rodriguez and the increasingly growing Joba Chamberlain. But besides that there is no one really that bad on the team. The Hate i believe stems from the fact that the Yanks have an endless wallet. But in terms of the actual Players the Redsox have more. Pedroia, paplebon, beckett, ortiz, youk the list goes on and on.

Though i would like to add that in terms of talent that Youk is a fantastic ball player. He has a sweating problem but his versatility in the field when it comes to playing multiple positions and his bat have been key contributions to the Red Sox

I can see why a non Sox fan would dislike everyone on that list except for Ellsbury. What has he done?

This. ESPECIALLY when he played for the White Sox and had to see his ugly mug every day on Comcast when I was trying to hear about the Cubs.

Never seen a guy who hit .210 glorified as much as Nick Swisher. He's garbage. God I despise him.

I think the Yanks players are hated more for who they play for rather than they themselves. The only Yankees player that i've hated aggressively even when he was on another team is A-Rod.

The Red Sox players are just a bunch of a A-Holes or at least project that image to me.

I agree with this. I never had a problem (heck, never really knew him other than his name) with Nick Swisher before he went to the Yankees. I loved CC before he went to the Yankees, never had a problem with Texeria (still really don't but he seems more smug now that he on the Yankees )

If there's a somewhat silver lining to this, I think the biggest difference is that people love to hate the Yankees, while other people who hate the Red Sox, simply hate them. I think I hate the Cubs in the way that a lot of people currently hate the Red Sox... the new "nation" built on bandwagoners that liked to see a curse be destroyed and a new team in the AL East rise to the occasion, with the likes of some popularly named players in yet a modernized classic ballpark.

I've grown dislike for the Cubs because of the majority of the fan base being ignorantly oblivious to the rest of the league. That's obviously a broad statement and a terribly opinionated one at that, but for those that I've met, witnessed, or heard about seem to come from the same place. Now that they're not selling out anymore, I've found that they are no longer all ignorant in willful hope that the team "will win it this time" and are truly seeing the team for who they are. Yet, their oblivion still amazes me. I bet half of the fan base think Derrek Lee retired after last season, and the other half spells Derek Lowe's first name the same way.

Back to my point, the Yankees have a higher class, respectable level of hatred... if that's actually a good thing. Yeah, they buy players (much like Teixeira), and that bothers most of us. But it's the organization and the name that will always have that hatred, even if they don't win another world series for another century, and they for some reason become a bottom-market team. The Red Sox are hated by a bunch for their current list of players, as well as their current dominant status. If both of those go, I'm sure the bandwagoners would go, which would mean the "haters" would probably dwindle as well.

Would you say the same for Jose Reyes? Andrew McCutchen? Manny Ramirez? Or is it just white folk who can't have long hair in the majors? Bet you had a real fit when Jason Giambi was on the Yankees.

By the way, I want to add Francisco Rodriguez to my list. Yet another player who can't stop pouting when something doesn't go his way, and his physical performance hinders as a result of him babying around on the mound.

Don't get the Swisher hate. He seems like one of the nicest guys in baseball, and I know he's done a ton of great charity work, going far beyond the basic making donations and having fundraisers.

A-Rod hate is obvious, though I will say he's calmed down the last few years and managed to keep everything from being about him all the time. Only thing that he does on the field that bugs me, and I think he's stopped recently is how he fills his mouth with a full bag of sunflower seeds when he hits. It looks ridiculous.

Saw Teixeira mentioned too. Teixeira seems like a decent guy, just very bland and usually unemotional, and very awkward when he does show emotion. And I hate how he huffs and puffs when he's running the bases. If he was a basketball player, it would be an absolute lock he would have played for dook.

He probably is one of the nicest guys. The interviews i've seen with him would support that. It's his demeanor on the field that I hate. I've disliked him since he was with the A's.
