Love the Ubaldo trade!
He's a total stud when either healthy or not in his head. White is going to be a decent #2/Good #3 and Pomeranz can make this deal look really lopsided if he pans out.
But for now and the next 2 1/2 years, this is a great trade for the Indians.
Get Ludwick and my trade deadline is complete.
BTW, Thomas Neal for Orlando Cabrera? SCORE!Too Old To Game Club

If he lives up to his potential, then yeah, it'll suck.
I still think Pomeranz will end up as a #2 at best. I don't think he'll ever be THE guy.
But I could be wrong.
BTW, I had no idea that Ubaldo was so entirely different on the road. I mean, it's a dramatic stat swing between pitching at home and away.Too Old To Game Club

I'm just really glad we kept Kipnis. I think he will be a stud.Comment

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
An easy way to tell how he'll be for the game, how flat his back gets compared to a horizontal line. The more upright he finishes, the more balls/walks will happen in the game.
Velocity drop, no clue whats going on there. The difference between his fastballs and changeups aren't drastic anymore (+/- 10-15 mph), if he gets that back then he should do fineAaron

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
Sad to see Ubaldo go. I was willing to write this season off and was hoping he'd bounce back in 2012 for the Rockies. I did see him pitch against the Braves a couple of weeks ago and he was on top of his game, so I'm glad that personally, I saw him leave on a high note. I was also in attendance last year when he set the Rockies' single-year win mark.
Cleveland is getting a GREAT guy in Ubaldo. I don't think you'll find anyone that would say anything bad about him. Last year, he would WALK from his apartment downtown to Coors Field. He always had a smile on his face and was always pleasant with the fans.
I do like the prospects the Rockies are getting and hopefully, if De La Rosa can recover from Tommy John surgery, the rotation will be decent next year.
I don't know if anyone will say it or not on the Rockies' end, but I think the fact that Ubaldo, if he turned things around, was going to command a large sum of money and the Rockies, having already locked up Tulo and Cargo, weren't comfortable with having 3 players make up a majority of the payroll. Since the season went downhill, the Rockies were able to make a deal that should help them in the future, and saves them from having to make a tougher decision on Jimenez down the road.Currently Playing:

Re: 2011 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
The more I think about it, the more I don't like this trade. It is very similar to the deal the Rangers made in the past getting Otsuka and Eaton for Chris Young and Adrian Gonzalez.
Gonzalez the young 1st baseman that had struggled to live up to the hype at the big league level, and Chris Young the solid starter that had shown signs of greatness. Those two descriptions almost fit perfectly with Hunter and Davis.
.....and look how that trade turned out for the Rangers.Life is a sport, so play hard!

As for the prospects, experts say we got potential #1,#2 future rotation fillers, but thats a wait and see. I just hope this works out...NFL - Denver Broncos
