I still think the Cubs will win but all this hoopla is just a bit much. You guys ever heard of quiet confidence? You people are starting to get a mite bit annoying. (tho some Cubs fans here are quite good posters so...) Save the celebration til they clinch.

Remember, 1984 was the exact same situation. (tho they were on the road then hmm)

Oh no ... please don't bring up 1984. I still have nightmares. I was a teenager then, and I created a real cool countdown sign in my yard cuz I was so excited.

Some idiot from my neighborhood called my house right after the Padres clinched, claiming to be the manager of the Padres at that time (I don't remember his name), and asked me what I thought of my Cubs now!

Yeah I have a wierd feeling about tomorrow nights game. Maybe its a premonition maybe its just anxiety but if both pitchers throw a low scoring game tomorrow all bets are off. Having followed the Cubs it seems that there were numerous times where the Cubs offense was cold. Of course, I ma not be taking into account the tendencies as much since the Pirates arrived. I just have a wierd feeling. I was walking around Wrigleyville last night and held off buying Cubs stuff out of fear for jinxing them.

Younger pitching thats lights out? What series are you watching? Their STAFF ERA is 6.00. Young or old that is brutal. They have been getting shelled!

What 'competitive' division are you talking about? Oh the one that Atlanta won? Oh yeah that's right. And where are they now?

That rough and tumble NL East will have two victims eliminated by the Cubs from the lowly central. I mean maybe we should schedule some exhibitions with the Phillies just to make the NL East's failure complete?

This is the end tonight. This is NOT 1984, there is no billy-goat, there is only Mark Prior. My biggest concern is staying up too late partying!

                  Re: Cubs vs. Marlins

First off the only pitcher that has been lights out for the fish was Beckett, we shelled the other ones for over 20 runs in 3 games!!! Beckett is the reason the fish are still in this thing, if he does not pitch well in the first game or in the 5th, this series is over. It should end tonight, Prior is up after 6 days off and they have Woody tommorow if they manage to get by Prior, which is doubtfull because he has pittched lights out ball on more than 5 days rest all year long. The Fish are sending up their 5th starter in his first playoff start on a chilly, wet day in Wrigley with 50,000 screaming there heads off. The odds are strongly too the Cubs side, and only a blind fan could not see that. The fish put up a good fight, but the bottom line is The Cubs have outplayed them so far and should go to the series, now if the Marlins man up and beat Prior and Wood they deserve to go. However Prior and Wood are 5-0 in the post season so far, and 2 of those wins came with not having their best stuff, they will have their finasty(Filthy+Nasty) stuff on the extra rest so I do not see an upset happening here.

The Cubs have showed they can hit a fastball but if you watched the game that Redman pitched the cubs didnt hit him that hard so i think that Pavano has a pretty good shot at shutting down the cubs tonight....I think this game will go to a game 7 and i think the Marlins will win the series but this is probably wishful thinking from a Marlin fan.

yeesh I know that the Marlins pitching has been shelled all series long but Beckett was beaten up pretty badly his first time out and look what he did. I'm not saying they're gonna turn around and beat the Cubs like Beckett did. I was only saying that "potentially" they could come back.

The NL East may see two victims from the Cubs, mainly because those two teams had a dogfight to even get in the playoffs (more so Marlins then Braves) so they've been battle tested.

As I said, the cubs will likely win. I just don't think there's a need to go loopy just yet.
