He's just being honest, I mean obviously the move was done so that he could win the title, so what's he supposed to say? "good luck Braun I hope you make me look like an idiot"?

Shutting his damn mouth is always an option...

As for the honesty thing, he also turned around and said that he did it for the fans. If you buy that, fine...he's "just being honest." Personally, I don't buy that for a second though, so I find his "honesty" inconsistent at best and would refer him back to the "shut up" option.

BTW, I'm not bashing you for your view (to each his own)...just pointing out that you can be honest without being a douche. I'm not really that deeply invested in the whole issue though.

          Tough for Adrian Gonzalez.

          August 25, 2010:
The San Diego Padres have the best record in the NL (76-49) and were 6.5 games ahead of the Giants (6.5 games ahead of the Phillies who were leading the WC at the time). They went on to win 90 games and missed the playoffs after losing to the Giants in game 162.
          August 25, 2011:
The Boston Red Sox have the best record in the AL (80-50) and were just 1 game ahead of the Yankees (but 9 games ahead of the wild-card leading Angels). They went on to win 90 games a missed the playoffs after losing to the Orioles in game 162.

Heh...tough indeed. Hopefully Dan Shaughnessy doesn't have this information. I can see him cashing in with the media and writing a book on "The Curse Of Gonzo" or some such nonsense.

Not sure why people would bash opinions, but I agree with Soxfan, he could have shut his mouth about Braun and kept it to himself.

Maybe the fans, who paid their hard earned money to see Reyes for the last time, wanted to see Reyes play till the end in perhaps his last game as a Met. The Brewers kept Fielder in with a 4 run lead until the top of the ninth inning and he received a curtain call, not a smattering of boos like Reyes did.

Also, to me, shows Reyes is more about a personal record than playing for/with your team.

              My .02 cents.

Actually, I didn't consider the bolded point. It's definitely possible that fans wanted to enjoy him one last time (if he does in fact leave). Also, I agree shutting his mouth would have been a better move, but I still thought it was funny that he said he would host a party to boo Braun.

The part I didn't understand was taking himself out for a pinch runner instead of waiting until his next AB to be pinch hit for.

No. This was the most uneventful week of the season.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but for all the crying over curses he's done in the past, I can't believe he said something like this.

The part I didn't understand was when Reyes told Collins his intentions, and Collins didn't respond with, "No way, Jose."
