The '85 series included the worst call in the history of the game. Don Denkinger 1b ump blew the series in game 6 for the cards.

I was glad to see Brett get a ring though.

Denkinger was from Iowa. Nobody famous from Iowa seems to have a good rep except Ashton Kutcher.

                  1986, pretty easily.

This year comes pretty damn close so far, but it remains to be seen how the World Series will play out. That will make or break it. There have been some really good games so far, though, mainly the two A's/Boston extra inning games, games 3 and 4 of the Marlins/Giants series, and the Cubbies/Marlins series so far. I haven't been that into the Yanks-Sox series too much yet, but the Cubs-Marlins series has been great.

I still have to say '86, like almost everyone else. The Mets-Sox World Series alone makes it, but then add the Sox/Angels dramatics and the extra inning game between the Mets and Astros and it can't really be touched.

1991 gets an honorable mention just because the Twinkies/Braves series was so classic (and because Jack Morris was on a level all by himself), and '92 was good with the Sid Bream play at the plate to win the series against the Pirates and the Blue Jays/Braves WS had some great pitching performances.

If Lonnie Smith hadn't had his head up his butt, we wouldn't be talking about Morris in game 7. Everyone seems to forget that Smoltz threw a shutout for 9 innings. He would have won that game if not for Smith. It's a shame. As a lifelong Braves fan, 1991 will haunt me until the day I die. That and Eric Gregg's strikezone in 1997. Please make it stop.
