Re: The Fan!!!!!!
Okay, I know that he is mainly a reason for their loss, but remember this...
The umpire would have called the batter out if he felt that ball was still a "live ball". What I mean by "live ball" is if nobody was there and didn't touch that ball, and if you saw where the ball landed (out-of-play or on the field), then that will determine whether a fan would really be allowed to touch a ball.
So, obviously the umpire (and myself) thought that the ball, if not touched by anybody, would've hit the railing, or at least the concrete top of the wall, which is not on the field, therefore out-of-play territory, so the fan, although a loser and a Cubs fan at the same time, attempted to catch the ball, he has every right to do so without getting kicked out of the stadium.
If the umpire thought the ball was going to stay on the field if it hadn't made contact with anybody, he would've called the batter out instantly, and the fan would be removed from the ballpark.
So, if there's someone to blame, you would have to blame the umpire... but ONLY blame him if you think that ball wasn't heading out of play, and DON'T blame him for calling it a foul ball because a fan touched it.Comment

Re: The Fan!!!!!!
Personally, I believe ANY person wishing physical harm on a fan b/c of interference is classless.
Sure, the fan ruined the potential out, but still..
PHYSICAL HARM?!?!
Cubs fans have reached a new low. This fan was just wanting what the 54785625785 other fans who attend games want - a souvenir, a piece of memoribilia. Now? He gets threats by other Cub fans..beer thrown onto him...all for trying to do what nearly every baseball fan dreams of - catching a foul ball.
Cubs fans, you have reached a new low. I hope offering physical harm to another fellow fan is something you're proud of.

I once heard on the radio a few White Sox fans who threatened bodily harm on Joan Cusak just because Comiskey Park was renamed U.S. Cellular field. What kind of sense does that make?

And I once heard on the radio that there are alligators in the sewers in New York from kids flushing them down the toilet.Comment

Re: The Fan!!!!!!
Excerpt from SI.com article:
Alou slammed his glove in anger, and many fans in the crowd of 39,577 booed and began to pelt the man with debris.
"The ball was in the stands, the umpire saw that," McKeon said. "I didn't think there was any interference. I don't think that was the turning point in the game."
Chicago fire fighter Pat Looney was seated next to the fan, whose identity was not released, and said there was no misconduct.
"It looked like it was out of play. Don't blame him," Looney said. "I should've pushed him out of the way. If I saw Alou coming, I would have.
"He wasn't leaning over. He was behind the rail, he didn't know Alou was coming," he said. "It looks like I touched the ball, but I didn't I got 50 hate calls already. The firehouse where I work is being bombarded."

That being said, game 6 is over. Game 7 is next. Go Cubs!Life is a sport, so play hard!
