1, 2, and 3 for the Phillies are pure horses.

Don't downplay the Cincinnati Reds, here. Their ERA won't show it (especially when also playing in places like Milwaukee and Houston), but with a ballpark factor adjustment, they can be just as scary as any other team out there in terms of depth. The fact that Mike Leake is their #5 starter actually frightens me.

Had to vote Phillies although I do think the Rays are in a very close second, I like Price, Shields and Hellickson. I think Moore's going to be a stud this year as well. It's just hard to pick against Halliday, Lee and Hamels. If I had to have a top five, it'd look like this:

              1. Phillies
              2. Rays
              3. Giants
              4. Angels
              5. Brewers

The Phillies have the best rotation in MLB, followed by the Rays.

                  In my opinion.

ERA and W/L doesn't tell the whole story on a pitchers skill level.

                          Here's my top 5
                          1. Angels
                          2. Rays
                          3. Phillies
                          4. Giants
                          5. Brewers
I can't see the Phillies being the no.1 rotation again. I think having Blanton replace Oswalt hurts their staff. As for Worley and Santana, Worley had a 3.72 SIERA last year, and Santana had a 3.95 SIERA. However, Worley had a smaller sample size. I would rather have Santana, but I can understand someone wanting Worley over him.

Wins and losses are on the offense. The pitcher can't control his offense.

Meh, it's a differential equation. This is the main reason many people believe Jack Morris should be in the Hall of Fame, because the majority of his wins were "defined by pitching well enough in that game," whether the score was 1-0 or 7-6. I don't agree looking back at some of his past games, but he did have a lot of one-run wins.

Wins are an unimportant stat as far as foresight goes, but as far as hindsight goes, it's a great stat IMO.
