Re: Josh Hamilton vs. Matt Kemp
As of right now I'd take Kemp without hesitation.
He is more than three years younger, runs a LOT better, doesn't have nearly as much of an injury history and also doesn't have the off the field issues.
Since the beginning of 2011 Kemp has by far the best WAR in baseball with 11.2 and Hamilton is tied for 15th with a 6.8 WAR.
Kemp is just entering his prime and reaching his potential right now as well.
In the last four years Kemp has missed a grand total of 4 games. Hamilton has missed over 100. Give me the guy that stays on the field. -
Re: Josh Hamilton vs. Matt Kemp
I remember after Kemp's 2007 year, I thought he would be a good player, but then he didn't have quite the 2008 year I expected. 2009, he improved though, but then regressed horribly in 2010. I thought he'd be an inconsistent guy who was a good all around player, but never quite elite.
Then 2011 happened, and now this year, yeah, he took it from good, to elite.7 National Championships

Kemp has the speed and youth that Hamilton doesn't. And while Hamilton may be an excellent comeback story, Kemp remains free of all the off the field issues.
Hamilton has the bat, while Kemp has the speed, defense, AND the bat.Mariners - Cubs: 2012 World Series

Re: Josh Hamilton vs. Matt Kemp
Even though I think that Hamilton is one of the greatest Rangers of all time, I do think Kemp is the better player. I'm not trying to take anything away from Hamilton either, but Kemp just has the edge in my book.Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks

Re: Josh Hamilton vs. Matt Kemp
I'd take Kemp pretty easily. Hamilton's obviously insanely talented but the injury risk is pretty substantial. Kemp is right in his prime.Comment

Lol off field issues have nothing to do with who is better.
That said, gimme Kemp.

Hamilton may be the most talented player I've ever seen. Right now I take Hamilton. He's ridiculous and he hits great pitching.Comment

Gimme Kemp! Basically carrying the weak Dodger offense on his back. Power to all fields, hit 39 HRs last year with the majority of the games played at pitchers Parks in California. Great speed as well.
But both players are great, can't go wrong with either.Comment

Re: Josh Hamilton vs. Matt Kemp
As of this very moment, the best hitter in baseball is Josh Hamilton. But, if we are talking who I'd take over the span of a season, It's Kemp.Comment

MLB network ran a comp of Hamilton's current stats compared to Barry Bonds "historic" single season HR record yr. Hamilton @ this point has more HRs, RBI, and higher batting avg than Bonds did through May 12th of 2001.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment
