Re: Bonds takes the 6th MVP honors home..

If anyone should have been given some consideration for the MVP (as said earlier, it means most valuable player), it should have went to Thome. Although the Phillies withered at the end, the only reason they won a few games in September and made things interesting is because of Thome.

Although he should not be placed ahead of Bonds or Pujols, he should have won third place.

I'm surprised that the voting was so lop-sided. Just looking at Barry's 28 first place votes you would thought he just blew away the competition with his stats. While he did put up great numbers, Albert Pujols's numbers look better.

      Bonds
      .341 BA, 45 HR, 90 RBI

      Pujols
      .359 BA, 43 HR, 124 RBI

What is it here that I'm missing? I mean I can see where Bonds does have the advantage in OBP and Slugging Percentage. I can also see the fact that his team made the playoffs which is a huge plus for MVP these days. Is it the fact that they are saying, "Well it's amazing he did so much while getting walked so much." Because honestly Pujols beats Barry in litteraly every category except HR, SLG, and OBP.

So, I'm not saying in any way Barry Bonds did not deserve this MVP. The guy played another great season. All I'm saying is that I'm very surprised at how Barry just blew away the competition, even though Albert Pujols posted better numbers. To me, the MVP race seems a lot closer then the voters made it out to be.

Yeah but Barry got walked so much, and he led his team to the playoffs something Pujols couldn't do.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.
