I felt nothing but pessimism toward Prado batting right there. I knew that he wouldn't have anything to offer before Heyward and Freeman, and if anything he was simply a double play waiting to happen.

In a way, I was almost praying he was going to strike out there.

Also a masterful performance from Wainwright (9.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 12 K).

He looks like the ace he was in 2010 in his last 7 starts or so.

"sigh" well least Romero pitched somewhat decently last night

I have a feeling even with some of the big boys coming back this week that the Jays are going to have a horrid September. What a way to end a season that had such great promise. I'm hoping that this is just a write off year for Romero because he's got enough talent to be a top pitcher.

Henderson Alvarez has sky high talent but for some reason this year it's not translating into results and while we've seen some guys have decent seasons it's all been pretty crappy. At least it looks like the Jays have their closer as I think Casey Jannsen has wrest that job from Santos and if they resign Carlos Villanueva the Jays have a solid number 4 starter in the rotation.

Hopefully for the sake of Jays fans that AA makes the move and actually spends some money this offseason or there's going to be some wild gnashing of teeth from the fanbase including me and i'm an AA guy myself.

Well Las Vegas' season ends on September 3rd, so sending Romero down right now doesn't accomplish much. He's not going to get it all together in two weeks. I think that if he continues to struggle in September, and if he continues to struggle in Spring Training, it'd be smart to send him to Vegas to start the season.

There's a feeling from those in the know that Romero should be put in the bullpen but even if he isn't the same people feel the Jays should have contingency plans next season in case Romero doesn't round back into form. September will be a huge month for him.

As for the game tonight "sigh" and OMG I hope David Cooper isn't turning into another Adam Lind when it comes to back issues. The guy has a pretty good bat but I believe he was taken out of the game tonight because his back spasms flared up again. Moises Sierra looks really good as he had a couple really good hacks tonight and some say that he's even stronger than Edwin Encarnacion! Once he starts to get his stroke he could be a star in this league.

In other Jays news, looks like they're close to signing a 4 year affiliate deal with Buffalo to be their new AAA farm club.
