    Re: Dodgers-Red Sox mega deal

What a trade. I think it will benefit both teams. That lineup for the Dodgers has great potential.
    MLB: Texas Rangers
    Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
    NCAA: SMU, UTA
    NFL: Dallas Cowboys
    NHL: Dallas Stars
    NBA: Dallas Mavericks

I own a band check it out

I still can't believe the Red Sox aren't on the hook for more finances. Best of luck to Crawford and Gonzalez in LA. Beckett...I'll chose to remember 07 and leave it at that.
I'm stoked too. Financial liberation, and a chance for Ben to really craft this team. We got 2 great young arms to go with Bogaerts, Barnes and Bradley Jr. I love how the farm is shaping up.

I was convinced that Theo gave us immoveable objects, and this trade is proof positive that I was wrong.

          Now, for John Lackey ...

If this type of deal happened in the NBA, there would be people raising holy hell about how the league is trying to bring up the LA market. Or how the Dodger is illegally fielding a super-team. Or how the league doesn't care about the Minnesota Twins...etc...etc...etc. But then again, NBA fans don't know any better.

Anyhow, the trade helps both teams. This definitely elevates the Dodgers as the best team in the NL right now and gives them a good shot at the World Series. This gives Boston lots of flexibility to rebuild and maybe get a big name in the off-season. However, this trade for Boston also gives the Valentine a vote of confidence by the owners. Some of the major players who were against Valentine was part of this deal so Valentine will be in Boston for at least one more year. Not sure if Boston fans are happy with that.

I bet there's a pretty deep divide that can be roughly correlated to becoming a big fan of theirs before or after October 2004.

The Texas Tough Guy still being himself in LA.

After the game, Beckett received a somewhat unfriendly welcome, though this one came from a member of the Los Angeles sports media.

Simers: What’d ya think, at that moment, as you’re standing out there, Dodger debut, second pitch and … ?

Beckett: I thought I made a pretty [expletive] pitch. That’s what I was thinking.

Simers: That’s your choice of words?

                  Beckett: Sure.

I think the different is, Stars mean more in the NBA than it does in MLB

Crazy to fathom a deal with this much money going 1 way is even possible. But it does help both teams.

No, this trade isn't like a NBA trade. Not even close to the Dwight Howard steal.

In basketball, adding 1 guy can make you a Championship team. In baseball, not even close. Yankees got Alex Rodriguez, and didn't end up winning it all until 2008 I think it was.
Adrian Gonzalez suddenly doesn't make the Dodgers a World Series Championship team. Crawford is damaged goods, and Beckett is inconsistent. All of them make a ton of money too. Dodgers are HEAVILY invested in guys on this team that are question marks IMO.
